How often do you smoke pipe or cigar in a week?

Just asking, because I'm always wondering, that some folks can smoke pipe or cigar that often.

I can do it maximum twice in a week, without getting throat trouble. Even with filter pipe.
So, whats some folks's secret? Decades of hard training, maybe?

I just re-entered the cigar world about a year ago. My palette has evolved over that period of time as well. When I’m not traveling for business and have a few weeks at home, I smoke a cigar pretty much every day. Typically in the evenings after dinner, but sometimes mid-morning with my coffee on the weekends.

If I find that I am growing dependent on having a cigar, I’ll take a break for a few days. My business trips usually force me to take a break as well.

I inquired about the basics of pipes on the other forum. I believe you gave me a few recommendations to get started. I haven’t quite adapted to pipe smoking yet. Perhaps in another phase of my life.

Last week, I did an exception from my usual rhythm.
I smoked a cigar on Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday and my usual pipe on Sunday.

It went out at least "okay", but I would not repeat that often, because it would more and more just cripple me down.

Probably a lot about what you're used to. I am an infrequence pipesmoker. When I do light up it might be half a dozen bowls in a day, but then it'll be months before I do it again. Last time I had a smoke was when we were on holiday in July. Sunday is the Chap Winter Flaneur; if it's a dry day, I'll be taking the pipe with me and I'll have a few bowls; if it's wet, it'll probably be Christmas. I can't say I've ever noticed a throat issue with that, but I don't inhale. Usually if tongue bite kicks in, that's when I know it's time to stop.

I can relate to both of these posts. I prefer variety with my cigars. I only have about 5 different types of cigars in my humidor. With too much frequency, I get bored with the flavors. So, I’ll take a break. From the standpoint of health, I don’t want this to transform into a dependency. So far, so good. I’m enjoying the experience, educating my taste buds, and learning more about the artisan craft of fine cigars.

That's always been my position. While it's an occasional indulgence, it's fine. If it ever becomes a habit or a perceived need, then it'll be time to knock it on the head. At the rate I currently smoke, I have fewer health worries about it than I used to have about the amount of passive smoking I was doing simply by socialising in the years before smoking was banned in indoor public spaces in the various UK jurisdictions.
