I thought I'd finally show off my new project hat that I'm finishing just in time for QM2006.

Took a bit to build up from scratch, but I'm fairly pleased with the results.

Still need a few tweaks, but I have almost 2 weeks!

Finest Kind!

A lovely job!
Details?
Was this built from a blank (capline?) to the finished product?
Either way, all I can say is wow, that is one handsome hat!

Yes. Built from a total raw body (which needed ALOT of stiffner.)
It was a very thin, very floopy felt.
I currently have it bashed with a C crown, which makes it look a bit squarish from this angle.
I may resuce that a bit more to a widish center dent.

Well done! An inspiration to myself, personally. Any details on construction that you'd care to share would be most appreciated. Great work, Dalexs!

Wow. That's a good looking project. What kind of equipment are you using, if any?

An old hat block I got off ebay... really small sewing needles... time... patience...

Sorry, I'd have to kill you...
(No, really, because I stole all of my techniques from Art, Fedora, and a few others!)

But seriously, pretty much what mark alan posted here
The Making of a hat sums up everything you need to know.
I've rebuilt a few hats prior to this over the years, which helped, so it really is just a matter of
time and patience (andrigth materials.)

Thanks for all the comments!
