New wool trousers in 'vintage' style (high waist, non-slimfit) ?

Hi all. I'm looking for a place where I can get newly manufactured trousers, featuring the details we all like here: Wool, high waist (or at least not low waist), and not slimfit (i.e trousers of a reasonable width).
I've got several pairs of Lands Ends chinos, and I really like them. But eventually, they are cotton and I would like to add some more wool trousers to my wardrobe.

As an additional requirement: I'm quite tall and require a 34" or 'Long' inseam.

Thank you in advance :)

I can't really help you, although I would be interested to see what people come up with.

On a side note, 34" is not a long inseam. That is still standard and generally available. 36" is where it starts to get tough (like my 31-36s)

Have you tried Tails and the Unexpected.com in the UK? My other half buys his 'vintage' trousers from there. There's also Darcy Clothing and Dandy and the Cad (I think it's called). All are online and in the UK though.

I didn't say it was difficult, but often many trousers only come on a regular (32") inseam, and sometimes 'long' is interpreted as a 33" which is a tad to short as well.
I'm glad I'm "only" 6'5" when it comes to finding clothes :)

I've checked Darcy Clothing and Cad and The Dandy. The former didn't have anything and the latter was out of my price range for everyday trousers. I couldn't find the last two however. Perhaps they are called something else?

It depends on what you are looking for exactly and what you budget is:

(1) High quality reproduction/vintage inspired trousers that match up well with actual vintage trousers? Then there are several high quality specialist makers including members of the Forum or people related to it: Vecona Vintage (http://www.vecona-vintage.com/index.php?cPath=30&osCsid=33d5bf5ebd4fc40f9ce2077348fa6b90), and the previously mentioned Qirrel (http://www.etsy.com/shop/Qirrelstailoring) and Old Town (http://www.old-town.co.uk/products.htm) and others. You will get wonderful, quality vintage style trousers but they will be more expensive.

NOTE: Though I've not bought any men's clothing from Vecona I've recently had them do an evening dress for wife and Janet is top notch, a pleasure to deal with, and she makes a top quality product. Highly recommended!

(2) Modern trousers that are relatively classic in design, but not necessarily matching vintage sytle. Finding high rise can be an issue but you can sometimes find "L" trousers that have a higher rise (I've found a few over the years). Some modern off the rank places make decent classic wool trousers, I've found some good ones by RL, BB, etc. on ebay and in thrift stories for low prices over the years.

Some European military surplus trousers do not look too military and can work. Also, I've had good luck with Sierra Trading Post for discounted sport coats and trousers. They often have a decent selection of wool flannel pants. Sizing can be an issue but if you are patient you can find some good deals there. For example these are unhemmed down to 37" so you can have 34" trousers no problem http://www.sierratradingpost.com/ri...erString=s~mens-flannel-pants/&colorFamily=01

Its not exactly vintage and might not be the exact fit/style you want but it will be relatively inexpensive.

Hope this helps!

I have the Brown Tweed Trouser from Aero leather. Very good Quality made from 100% Wool. Unfortunately, most pants of the sites above are made from unacceptable materials !!!!!
http://onlinemilitaria.com his Officer pinks are from Outstanding Quality, a very 1940s cut and the Color is not army.

For daily wear trousers that are not uber formal but can be worn with jacket and tie very nicely try www.pirclothing.com. Look at the Overlord model (no cargo pockets). The website has changed its aesthetic to an anonymous, modern style which looks cheap imo (perhaps to broaden the market, all content remains the same), but the product is unchanged. Do not be put off by the reference to adapted fit for modern tastes... they are not exact military repro but they have the look and feel for civilian use. Also look into military repro for the period. If you can work around the limitations of colour palette (less so if you aren't dead set against the Axis stuff) and ankles (avoid tied in ankles for daily wear), it can be a great way of getting good trews on the (relative) cheap. Most of these - and PIR- come in 35" inside legs, unfinished.

Edit: I just realised I got distracted and forgot you wanted wool.... These are all cotton, though nice and heavy (and machine washable, which can be a bonus), lovely drape, if you aren't totally set on wool.

NEXT the high street chain did some 80% wool trousers a few years ago that were very well made and very traditional in style, high waisted- pleated front-cuffed trouser bottoms, I think they were in the traditional range, also did some 100% wool and super 100's wool trousers, they all pop up on UK Ebay fairly often.

I see you are in Denmark. Try army surplus companies. Danish Army civil defence uniforms of the 1950s had a high waisted wide leg trouser, cut in a civilian style. They were made in heavy grey wool. I saw a pair last week worn by one of the staff of 'Sabre Sales' http://www.sabresales.co.uk/
They don't have them listed on the website, but the man wearing them said they had lots in stock.
If you can get them in the UK, I would like to think you can get them in Denmark.

Good luck.

Do you have pics of you wearing the trousers? They look good on their website, but it's always nicer to see how they look when being worn. Thanks.

I am wearing a pair at the moment, with a tweed jacket and a tie, from the same source. THey are heavyweight serge, but whack a turn up in them and voila! Heavy flannels in a very versatile grey.
