Nice Douglas. Not an easy hat to come upon. I had one once but condition was pretty bad so it went away..

I'm a fan of the ribbon width on the grey colored hat in the first pic...

I like it...:eusa_clap

Here my two most recent Portis acquisitions. This first one is dark brown, I liked the ribbon treatment. 1" bronw ribbon, with a matching bound brim.
2 5/8" brim.

This second one is tough to describe the color. It's not gray and it's not a very light brown???? It has a 2 5/8 brim.

I'm very pleased with them. Now if I could only find a light gray one!

Great hats . . .

I cam across a Portis the other day, but it was far, far too small . . . Great hats though . . . I only wish I could join the club.

Douglas,

I thoroughly enjoy it. It has a couple of moth nibbles and will need a bit of a cleaning to get the musty odor out, but all in all a very nice hat. The ribbon on it looks practically new as does the wind trolley. I can fully understand why you enjoy these hats.

Cheers!

Dan

Razzman , they are spectacular!!
Marc you are so right aside from being fun,the knowlege gathered is invalueable. I think I will start another.
Bk, if you need a cleaner photo I will be happy to get one for you.

thanks for the offer, DOUGLAS. I'm interested in more images if there are different things on the other sides of the box. Quite often they had varying images around the box. The Portis one i posted above has a cat and an owl on it, though you can't see them on that image.

bk

btw. your "Typically American" lightweight is my favourite so far . . .

Bringing this one back from the dead.
Portis Boater off ebay. Didn't have a sweat so I double-side taped a grosgrain ribbon instead.
Liner reads Portis "Typically American" Featherweight Super-Flex
Compared to other boaters I have held, this one is definatley light!
