This one is in way better shape though."NEUHEIT / Novelty" "SPITZENKLASSE / Top Class", measures 58cm, late 1930s. This German Velour arrived recently. I am trying to figure out what company made it but that could prove futile. I really like the color and the Velour has a great finish and hand. Also the hat has a very unique liner design with reed piping.
The piping reed is visible the following photo (top of liner).

That liner is gorgeous, and the color is a perfect match to the felt. I'm not normally drawn to velour felts, but I'd wear that hat happily.

Stefan, Thanks again. I went and checked and it was definitively made by the same company as your "Leica" Velour. My guess is the hat company is one of the pre WWII hat companies from East Germany.

That is a stellar hat. Anyone know why the Borsalinos have that wavy cardboard insert under the brow of the sweatband?Borsalino
I am going to keep the cattle bash in place. It is a standard Borsalino with all the details one would expect. A good cleaning and it will be right as rain.
The staining at the ribbon doesn't bother me really nor do the creases on the brim.
