I really wanted this hat to work for me, but it’s just too small. Greeley Hat Works for the Drunk Hare Hat Co. The felt is nicer than I was expecting and not overly stiff. The brim is 3 ⅜” with a nice pencil curl.

Tirard in ragondia (aka: nutria, coypu, Rat Gondin). 5 ⅝” open crown and 2 ⅝” raw edge brim. I’ve handled felt with a finer finish and softer hand, but this is maybe the most moldable felt I’ve seen. It truly molds like clay without any noticeable spring back. Just wish it was my size. 59cm or 7 ⅜ US.

Some cool finds there, Brent. French hats for the American market aren't all that common it seems. Premiere Marque doesn't ring a bell and doesn't mean much. Several manufacturers used it among which Fléchet and Tirard In later hats the French makers used very poor quality leather or faux leather product for their sweatbands. The one on the Premiere marque hat could be a replacement though.

4X Miller, of Denver, Colorado. 3 1/4 inch brim, 6 1/4 inch open crown. Don't know the date of this hat. Opinions, anyone? 40's? Could it be from the 30's? The style looks like a San Fran to me, except for the shape of the crown.

Have you dug through the catalogs archived here on the Lounge? You might find the exact model. Very cool hat!
The catalogs are for Miller Stockman hats. I presume my hat predates the formation of that company, about 1942, unless they were still making hat's labelled as Miller instead of Miller Stockman after that date. That's part of what I'm uncertain about, just when did they started labelling the hats as Miller Stockman.

The model name and fonts used seem more like 1930s to me, but that is just a guess.

This catalog was from 1949 and they were calling the hats "Miller", but not sure what the logos in the hats would state.

Do you remember how it feels when you find that new best friend? Thank you @BobHufford for yet another terrific hat! This Borsalino Qualita Superiore is like new and, best yet, it's the first Borso that actually fits. Try as I might, Borso fedora's have just too much taper for my head. This nero homburg is fantastic and sports a wind cord, 5 inch crown as creased, a 2 1/8 inch curled brim, 1 1/2 inch black ribbon and a 2 inch brown sweat. Too bad it is getting too hot to wear felt hats!

Here are a few initial pictures with my recent garage sale find, a $5 Brownie Hawkeye camera.

Thanks, Bob. Maybe I do need to look at the catalogs. Wish I knew how to date the hat's mfg tag. As many Miller hats as they must have sold, I'm surprised there's no thread on the Lounge showing them, and surprised how few have surfaced so we can make comparisons.

Mike, your liner and sweat logo is similar to the one on my old Miller. I have never been able to ascertain age on mine either or who made the hats for Miller for that matter. Love the hat though. Really great felt.…. Looks like you got a good one there!

Nice hat you've got there, too, Blare. I noticed there's been a boy's size Miller on eBay, said to have belonged to a boy who later graduated high school about 1940, which would put that hat back in the early to mid 30's. I'm attaching a couple of pics here for reference.

Cool.. interesting hat.. some of older “kids hats” while certainly lower quality than the higher end westerns…. Were still well made hats. In this case… no liner but still the logo screen printed in the tip.

I found this dark blue 'bleu mattan' (more black) Mossant homburg from 1979 according to the label. The felt is extremely soft. Maybe it is sold in a Lacoste store? (it's printing on the leather sweatband). A great hat for it's price of 12 euro.... :)

Looks good. I can sure see the blue in the photos of you wearing it. Who doesn’t like blue hats?

Great colour and a nice looking felt. A popular style in France it seems, because I find hats like this regularly. I am surprised about the late date for this one; Mossant moved away from hats fairly early to focus more on clothing.
