Attached the bow and band last night and just finished creasing the crown on a new Indy style brown fedora.

Here's one I found recently.
Hückel Novo Velour in black. Size 57 with the raw edge brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 11,5cm at the center dent. All the Hückel quality we've come to expect. It did have a liner, but that was too far gone to save.

So your post appeared on my screen with the text and half of your first image showing…. What does it say that I sat here waiting for a minute for the image to load before I realized it WAS the image. Either that is some VERY a dark felt… or I need to go back to the Hats and Drinks page :D

really nice velour Stefan.

Oops. In retrospect I could have cropped that phone-pic a bit tighter. To be fair the felt IS very dark, but not THAT dark!:)

Really special treat today... I get to do a hat review! A few weeks back HatsbySam reached out and asked if I was intersted in doing an honest review of one of his hats. I said sure and we went through the whole custom hat ordering and measuring process AND HE MADE ME A HAT! UPS rolled up to the house late yesterday and all I can say is color me impressed! Ill break this up in multiple posts so you dont have to look through bunches of pictures all at once.

We settled on an Open Road shape with a wide brim binding. Silverbelly with pale green ribbon work. Absolutely georgeous color combination. 2-3/4" brim 5" crown ( 5-1/2" open crown height). Fedora bash up top and really nice snap brim. Nice dress weight felt. Fepsa felt body in a beautiful silverbelly. Felt finish is impecable and smooth. Beautiful liner and nice soft sweatband. He has a new foil embossing tool and I have to admit Im about about ready to get one myself. Gold embossing is such a classy touch... He even named this model " The Rick" Im flattered

I really like the touch of the wider brim binding. . Great attention to detail in measuring resulted in a perfect fit in a 7-1/4 long oval. Super comfy fit. Normally Im a snap down in front guy, but as nice as it looks snapped up, I figured I needed to start out pick with it up just as it came out of the box. With that out of the way... lets snap the brim down!

To wrap my thoughts... absolutely superb execution. Impressed that the whole process for a bespoke hat including shipping was less that two weeks ( UPS must have know it was a special shipment because it got here in two days and the box was in perfect condition lol). For an early hat by Sam, Im really impressed.... Sam is going to go far! Im think that if youre in the market for a nice bespoke hat reach out to HatsbySam asap... if he decides to really get into production, hes going to get real busy real soon... Mr Bear definately approves!

This one will definately get worn a lot and will get a prominent spot on my silverbelly/ Open Road wall

Great work my Friend!

Can’t tell you how much I appreciate your kind words and your thoughtful and entertaining review! Glad Mr. Bear made a cameo! The hat was a blast to make and, as expected, you’re rocking it!

Family from Houston came up today to meet Mr Bear. My brother really loves the hat too, but since my niece brought up a really friendly Chocolate lab, the dogs were the stars of the day. Great day from the top of the head down to the grass

I imagine Mr. Bear had a great time, nothing more fun than a Lab party.

Lee Silver Label - Edgelee 7 3/8
Milk Chocolate Colored Felt
5 1/4 crown as shaped (Close to 6 open)
1 5/8 Copper Grosgrain Ribbon
2 1/4 Brim with Gold Binding

Also from the hat roulette box was one I knew looked great but had no idea on make or size. Turns out we’ve got a 1950s Lee Silver Label EdgeLee in an absolutely beautiful color combination. The felt is a sort of milk chocolate color matched with a copper grosgrain ribbon along with a slightly contrasting gold toned brim binding. There is a small mystery here that every Edgelee hat and advertisement I’ve come across it appears Edgelee refers to Lee’s hand felted edge (Cavanagh) which they licensed from HCA. This hat however has a bound edge and slightly shorter brim at 2 1/4. The evidence may point to this hat getting a brim trim at some point in its life and might explain the contrasting brim binding from the ribbon. Whatever the case it made for one fabulous color combination. Unfortunately for me it’s a bit too large for my head at 7 3/8 so I may move it along here at some point… but in the mean time I do get to admire its beauty.

Very cool find, Joe. The colour combination is really attractive. Too bad it isn't your size.
