This one was a mystery as the auction had no good photos of it.

But Stetson factory sticker? And 7-3/4 size! Don’t see that often in hats this age.

I'd like this to be the last of the series of fur hats that enter my collection, because it's among the most beautiful of the limited Italian production I've found in recent years, and I'd like to finish with a flourish. :)
DeLuxe Panizza pelo A.jpg

Panizza De Luxe, size 60 cm, or 7 1/2 in the US. The felt color is "White," although it's much more honey-colored, but that's how Panizza defines the color of this felt.
DeLuxe Panizza pelo Interno.jpg
The finishes are top-notch and meticulously crafted, almost as if it were a custom-made hat—that is, the hat shop provided the customer's contact information for a very limited production run of the same style and shape as this hat.
DeLuxe Panizza pelo D.jpg
Thanks to the crucial help of Steve @ mayserwegener, I learned about Panizza's furry felt production capabilities during a visit to the Ghiffa museum, where we saw the machine used to achieve this type of finish.
DeLuxe Panizza pelo F.jpg
The hat's measurements: the rough brim is 5.5 cm. the ribbon is 4.5 cm high and the crown at its lowest point is 10.5 cm.
DeLuxe Panizza pelo C.jpg

The hat has a medium shape with the typical measurements and shapes of Italian hats from the 60s and 70s.
DeLuxe Panizza pelo B.jpg
I must say that it's difficult to find high-quality Panizza hats, but when you do find them, they're rare gems.

Wow. I'm not a fan of "furry" hats, so in my opinion it could use a haircut, but other than that I think that's about as nice a hat as I've ever seen. I think the simplicity of the bow adds to it's character, but that's just me. Nice acquisition Daniele!

Was helping one of my coffee cohorts find a hat recently. He really liked one of the Stetson G U N Club hats I have ( hes a G U N Smith) but hes a rather small head and doesn't like too tall crowns. Found him what we think with be perfect lid that should be here in the next day or so. While I was hunting for 6-7/8 sized hats, I also ran across this lonely little Bradford 7x Western that needed some love. Hat has a 3" brim and 4-1/2" crown. Felt is in pretty nice shape and and the liners clean. Did some brushing, blocking, steaming and smoothing. Gor rid of the old cattlemans crease and added a bit of a simple downward brim swoop so it doesn't look like a kids lit"l wrangler outfit any more . Sweatband has got some cracking issues so Ill sew in a new one. Not sure if the fellow will need TWO hats, but for the price I picked it up for, I figured it was my duty to rescue it and find it a new home.

I know we have a lot of international travelers and residents here, but I rarely get to leave the US (occasionally Canada).

So this trip to Melbourne at the end of November was incredibly special to me, to a surprise 50th birthday party for a cousin on a side of the family I have only recently reconnected with after 28 years. It happened to overlap with my birthday as well.

Of course the first thing I did upon arrival is head to a hat shop and buy an Akubra locally. This is their “Leisure Time” and here are some gratuitous photos of my time there. It rained most of the week, and to no surprise, the hat held up fantastically.

All of this solo travel and long (very comfortable) plane rides were big personal achievements for me, and I’m glad I have the hat as a physical token of the journey.

We should all be so lucky to be able to post great photos of hats as they were meant to be worn. Looks great.

Thanks Mark.
I like it when opinions differ on the characteristics of the hat and converge on its beauty.

Great new additions posted recently... and quite an interesting haul, Bob. I see that four digit tape from time to time. I've often thought it was an identifier relating to a hat being brought in for renovation, but that is just a guess. The black pencil curl looks like an oldie to me.
