Pre-fedora fedoras?

I'm finding that recently I'm really digging early fedoras-- you know, late 1800's-early 1900's--the ones that look like a hybrid of a Homburg and a fedora (kind of like the one Daniel Day Lewis wears in "The Age of Innocence.") I suppose they began from men just pinching the fronts of their Homburgs. Anyone tried to replicate this look?

:eek:fftopic: Actually, I love that shirt -- been admiring it since I first saw it in WAYWT? a few weeks back. Where'd you get that, and more important, where can I get one? :)

Getting back on track  is there a name for the particular style of hat discussed in this thread? Or is it really just, as Dietzatron observed, a pinched-in homburg?

Hm, so it is... I must have been in more of a rush to get out of the house this morning than I realized. A very interesting style nonetheless. I like.
