ROBERT MITCHUM AND BAD SUITS

Turner has been showing Robert Mitchum films all this week and I've noticed something on the ones I've seen so far.

Robert just can't wear a suit. It looks like it just hangs on him or bunches up, or is crooked. When he wears a sport shirt he looks great, but none of his suits seam to work.

Anyone else notice this?

You're right!

Mitchum started his career as a cowboy actor and always seemed to carry a little of that body language with him. He never was a clothes horse like Cary Grant, or a classy dresser who looked good in everything, like Gary Cooper.

Mitchum often complained about his wardrobe- albeit, tongue in cheek.
Once, when asked about his acting style, he replied: "I just make sure my suit is pointed in the right direction and take it from there."
