Beautiful, the wood is exceptional. I love the history and beauty of flintlocks

Ah, Renault! Your are always coming up with something nice. I like that sliding patchbox, and the wood on the other.

I got interested in muzzloaders back about 1970 and got one of those Remington Zouave repro rifles in 58 caliber. I was shooting at my uncles and he said to use a big oak for a backstop, and after about 4-5 shots said we best find another spot before we shot the tree up. At another place was shooting through some heavy brush in front of a small dam and after a few shots could see where those Minie' balls were cutting a path.

I had a kit from the old Dixie for a squirrel rifle, got the stock carved rather nicely, patchbox, and lock fitted then took it to what was supposed to be a good local gunsmith( he was more interested in full auto stuff) to fit the drum and nipple for a caplock and he ruined it as a shooter. It's hanging over my mantle as a display piece.

Next was a CVA kit for a double barrel 50 cal cap & ball and it's a bit of fun.

Lastly I was wanting a nice little shooter and had a semi custom flintlock 36 cal made up in the southern mountain style. Nice thing about it is that I can use 000 buckshot for the ball. My son was shooting it and the small caliber is not as easy to load as a larger cal, and his comment was , "and they fought wars with these things". A 36 cal patched ball is not a long range thing but is fun and fairly accurate out to 40-50 yards, and a lot of fun for a slow afternoon.

IMG_4808.JPG Many of us experienced the Ol' Zouave back in those days!!! $89.95 shipped! LOL! Simpler times. What fun we had!!!

I have a pretty decent shop here mebbe we can fix that rifle with the questionable drum and nipple! Think about bringing it buy on a Texas trip! (Newest thing not in pic, i have an old school HD craftsman drill press converted into a pretty handy ersatz mill!) ;)

Appreciate the offer, but I never get south of Lufkin, or very much west of Palestine. Our family is all east of here and nearly all of our travels go east.

I am in Jacksonville, just south of Tyler. I had my wife in Tyler for a followup doctors appoint yesterday afternoon and we saw a few tiny snowflakes, and some more on the way home, nothing to accumulate though.

I talked to my sister over in Port Gibson, Miss, just south of Vicksburg and she had 4 inches this morning and some still coming down, a cousin in Baton Rouge had 3 inches and it was still coming down heavy about 9am. He had never seen anything like that.

According to the weather report, we were on the extreme edge of the cold front, and should not see anything other than good freeze which we did get.

Newest target with a 32-20 made when H. L. Mencken was at the top of his game, and two choices for a Threepersons holster. Thinking about the black one with retention strap like the brown one. [IMG][IMG]

How about a "new classic?" An Honor Guard from Honor Defense. All-American, made in Georgia with all American materials. A portion of each sale goes to support veterans' charities.

Sweet. I am a sucker for those old K frames especially those with the tapered barrel. Great find!

I inherited one from my dad. He had one with a 2" barrel that I could really shoot well and hit with, and told him if he wanted to get rid of it I would buy it. He forgot and sold it to a man he worked with to my sorrow. I really liked that 2" k frame, and if I ever see one will probably grab it.

I just traded 290 bucks for this Beretta 92FS in 9mm with a 15 round magazine. The finish is showing some wear but it seems to be in good condition otherwise.
