Here's a recent aquisition, a plain but useful wool/cotton/rayon? tie in rust, no labels save the Tebilized one...48" long and blade 2 7/8" at the widest part;

Constuction is very similar to Tootals from the same period.

Geez, they could have come up with a better name for the color. Rust does not exactly make a good selling point. :p

You managed to type that entire sentence without using the word 'boring'. Well done. Maybe you are learning to appreciate that sometimes a plain rust coloured tie is exactly what an outfit is calling out for! :):(:eek:

Well perhaps these ties will go towards showing that British ties do have some life in them! (Although I for one would happily wear a 'rust' tie, scrapheap or no ;) )

Three 'Klipper' ties:

I have never come across a tie so physically bright before. It's practically fluorescent! Appropriate for a rave I'd say. But what slacks does one wear for a rave? The label reads 'Atkinson's Irish Tweed, Made Expressly for Sims Reid, Gravesend'

And a nice plaid one, I'm not sure on the cloth - seems like maybe rayon? Doesn't feel like wool anyway. No label.

Admittedly they are all plaid. I suppose that's as far as patterns go...

All these ties got me to going through my stash. Both are Salvation Army finds. The first is a Wembley bearing a Blachs dept. store label. Blachs operated in Birmingham from 1885 to 1987. The second is a Via Manzoni. Don't know much about it. Both are 3" wide and 54" long.

Nice ones Bamaboots.
I remember Blachs. Now you've got the fever, don't ya? I rarely wear them, mostly just collect, but they sure take up a lot less space than all my cowboy boots.

I like the color of the rust tie, Esteban68. Usually relegate them to cooler weather wearing, but I have a few shirts in similar shades. It's very versatile with greens and greys.

Eddie those plaids are sporty. That Atkinson's is electric! Where do you put the batteries?

Today, I went to the thrift store and picked up three ties. The first is made by Cape Cod Neckwear. It is about 56" long. The second is made by Bert Pulitzer. It is also about 56" long. It is made in USA. The last is by Brooks Brothers. It is about 54.5" It is also made in USA.
