I was being facetious about that particular tie but there are tons of regimental patterns that you could easily make the mistake of buying unknowingly. This will give you some idea:

That's a nice tie JP , trouble is over here there's so many regimental, university and school ties out there not to mention rugby and cricket clubs etc that it'd take you a month to identify to which it belonged and if you could get away with wearing it!

I'm with you on that. I give away any regimental ties I find. In my mind: If you've not earned it, don't wear it.
