I am selling a brand new - never worn - Simmons Bilt jacket. Sadly it's too large for me, and I cannot return it as I had a front pocket and pocket zippers removed from the standard Detroit model. It also has the back yoke of a Roadster.

PXL_20210528_220723798.jpg

It's a size 44, Detroit, with some design modifications to make it sleeker and easier to wear day to day. It's made of dark brown Blattwerk Horse Hide. It will lighten and show wear beautifully, and is the same leather used by Iron Heart, Standard and Strange, etc. It's not stiff at all - and is already buttery soft.

Photo Album

Measurements are:
  • Chest: 46" (23" P2P)
  • Shoulder: 19"
  • Sleeve: 25"
  • Back Length: 25"
  • Bottom Opening: 44" (22")
  • Collar to hem: 25"
Hardware is polished brass, lining is Viscose brown, with soft hand-warmer pocket lining. Front hand pockets have no zippers. It also has an internal chest pocket for phone, etc.

It's $1,300 new, asking $995. It's never been worn, and still has the tags on it.

Will ship to US with your preferred method, and international with extra cost to insure.

All sales final - no returns. Happy to chat more or take extra pictures.

My Reddit Account is silasmoon for further human verification - and I am happy to answer any further questions.

Nice jacket. If it was 23 pit, an at least 19 shoulder I'd be all over this. Glws

I posted the measurements I sent to Simmons Bilt actually, so here are some photos of the measurements. I think you might be in luck. Simmons seems to have chosen the size 44 despite the custom measurements I gave them.

I am happy to do more of these photos. I also shot some videos going back and forth. I am measuring from seam to seam with the garment flat. Using a cloth tape measure and my vintage Stanley fabric cutter's yard stick.

Here was my PO with Simmons. They weren't able to do the custom pocket lining, or the ball + chain zips.

From Standard & Strange - a purveyor of Simmons Built, Real McCoys, etc.

"Struck-thru horsehide tanned with olive leaves and finished with beeswax for a smooth, supple jacket from day one. Horsehide has significantly more character than steer hide, with much more variation from hide to hide. Each jacket will be slightly different; marks, scars, and imperfections are to be expected and normal."

I have a Leon No Star from Fine Creek Leathers in Shinki Horsehide tea core, and it's a totally different material. The Shinki was a bear to break in - stiff - thick - heavy. Great for motorcycle riding (which is why I got it), but kinda clunky for day to day activities in my honest opinion. Hence me wanting something lighter in Blattwerk.

Blattwerk on the other hand is very supple and doesn't require that break in process. The leather color will lighten with age a bit according to Simmons. It's a nice solid brown throughout, unlike Kakao which tends to be fairly blotchy in my opinion.

Gotcha, I looked at sb site as well an saw its a lighter leather, I tend to prefer heavy weight jackets, the grain striation on this leather looks awesome an its a beautiful pattern. When I try on a leather jacket if its light it doesn't feel right- to me.

Very nice jacket. GLWS.

For the folks who are looking at this jacket, I have the same BLATTWERK HH not the same design. It smells like Shinki, feels softer than Shinki, and has a naked and matte finish. It has a very luxurious feel. Can some one who has this BLATTWERK and Masaye from Johnson confirm that are the same or different leather? Thanks.

I'm very impressed with the Blattwerk - looking to have something made up in it still. To me it's got the suppleness of deer, but the character of horse.

"Amazing jacket. If the measurements were X I'd buy it for sure!"

"Hey great news, the measurements are actually X!"

"Just kidding I'm not buying it."

So annoying. Great jacket, good luck with the sale.
"Id buy it for sure" -your words.
"Id be all over this" my words.
"Just kidding im not buying it" - something that happened somewhere in your mindstream.
After communicating via PM And finding op stats 5"10 187, an learning that storm cuffs are not present, an seeing his fit pic. The sleeves would fit me 5"10 the same way it does him, falling down to the thumb knuckle because its wide cuff. I've had a previous bad experience already with this sleeve configuration.
Someone who frivolously makes fabricated comments with underlying negativity attached to it without having an in-depth understanding of the circumstances that motivated the decision. - so annoying.

I haven't handled blattwerk from SB but I have a JL Masaye. The Masaye is lighter/thinner/softer than my FL/FW shinki, the JL Masaye is also black overdyed for an added sheen so I guess you can say it has a matted finish when the top layer of paint wears off. It's nice to wear and very easy/comfy.
