This shot is better than a thousand essays explaining what the average American home looked like in the Era. No gloss, no glamour, no glitz, no posed magazine-spread perfection, and everything is very clearly and emphatically lived in. The radio is maybe ten years old, the chair is even older -- its springs are sprung, that antimacassar is probably covering a rip, and the upholstery has received the attention of many cats over its lifetime. I've never been in an art-deco fantasyland, but I've been in this place.

Marvelous photographs.

The first photo of the latest crop is awesome. Very dramatic looking... much better than "professional fashion shots".

Also the gent reading his paper... pinstripe trousers with tweedy herringbone coat and vest. Not giving a damn about so called "fashion rules".
