They're right. Not everyone can afford to spend $100's on a jacket but there are alternatives. Save for a while and pick up a bargain from ebay maybe.

Yes, I would wait a little longer and keep an eye on eBay. You should be able to pick up something like a used Cooper for that sort of money, which is likely to be significantly better than a new jacket at that price. Is it specifically a leather jacket you're after? I ask as if you're working to a tight budget, it seems to me that you can buy nicer nylon jackets (an Alpha MA1, for example, which doesn't have a furry collar) for that sort of money than you can leather.
