I got this one a long time ago, but just realized I never took any detailed pictures until now. This is a Stetson Royal Deluxe, sold at Remick's department store in Quincy, Mass, which was owned by the father of the late actress Lee Remick.

The liner has no covering whatsoever over the logo. Does this give an indication of its age? I wish it had a date stamp like Jimmy the Lid's wonderful new "Philly" Stetson.

Click on the thumbnails for the big pictures.

Yes, quite nice, both the hat itself and how well it suits its wearer.
Wild guess as to age is early 1950s, based on the style of the retailer's logo embossed on the sweatband.
As an aid to dating in a most general way (this has probably been touched on here before, but I'm not feeling up to the search right now), it would be good to know when the Philly plant closed (those tags under the sweatband tell us it's a Philadelphia-made hat, of course) and how the tags may have changed over the years.

Oh man, just look at those lines. It's like
a 40s design cloud floating on your head.
Crisp, beautiful grey, too. I'm keeping a
copy of this picture as a prime example of
what a homburg should look like, along with
that one Spiridon has...
