I have been reading threads about people buying old jackets
that reeks from the armpits or just smells bad in the lining.

Has anyone tested the stuff you can get from the petstore?
There exist a product called odor away or something wich is
a bacterial killing enzyme something that takes away odor.

I had it when I had a dog and used it when he sometimes
peed just a little on a big carpet that couldnt be cleaned.
It actually worked very good.

I do not know however if it is bad for the leather/lining.
Nothing happened to my carpet, but one should try
on something less valuable first or maybe someone knows.

Hey Griff,
You keep changing your Avatar.
Maybe some day we'll see your whole face in it.
I keep picturing you playing the guitar wearing your Cheyenne! Classic picture!! lol
Anyway, the Pet Odor Away will probably work, but it'd be my last resort.
Try sprinkling the liner with baking soda first and make sure it settles deep into the liner.
Let it sit overnight and then vacuum it out.
If that doesn't work, try Febreeze.
Finally, try the Pet Odor Away.
I wouldn't pour it on though.
Maybe wet a cloth with it and sponge it on so it doesn't soak thru to the leather.
Let us know what you do and how it turns out.

I have tried one version of this type of enzyme stuff. didn't work a bit. But what did work is spraying with a solution of water and baking soda.

man that's foul...stench

Professional cleaner comes to mind. How about something like Leather Therapy to wash the whole garment. I've got something about wearing someone else's worn in unwashed jacket unless I had to. JMO

There's one on the market called "Anti Icky Poo" It works very well, however, it does state that it can be used on any wet cleanable material. Which probably doesn't mean leather.

I was mostly thinking about the inside of the armpit - the lining.

I wouldnt wear an old stinking jacket either.
Its actually the bacteria that stinks, so its kinda eew.

I just saw someone here saying he got a nice jacket but the
armpits reeked, so I was thinking about that odoraway I used
a long time ago. I just dissolved it in water and sprayed on,
and dog puke and the likes didnt smell no more.

What is uncool is that the filth is still there.
What I liked about it is that it kills the bacteria.

OneEyeman: You know what they say about avatars. If your face in the avatar
is in a wierd angle - thats the only angle that person looks ok in.
If the person only has parts of his face in the avatar - thats the only part worth showing. :D (in my case, more of the jacket and less of the face, wich is good for you guys) :D

It may work then. I would say just using a good leather cleaner and conditioner, on the outside would get rid of any smell there. The odor eliminator would do the inside, as long as you didn't use so much, that it soaked through to the leather.

As a last resort, I suppose you could replace the liner.
