I'm thinking the rear folds and the half band are a rather crude way to reduce the size of a standard sized cap? Though crude, it does give a nice effect. This would account for the "normal" sized bill. On the date - so hard to tell on these. The styles were so similar from pre-20s all the way up to the 40s. Without a dateable union label or some other unquivocal dating tool, it's just impossible to know for sure.:eusa_doh:

$24 per dozen for the retailer for the box--the average of the prices per dozen which are listed as $9-$39 for the various types less 25%. $39 per dozen is still an expensive hat(vicuña?) by the time it is marked up.

Ads in the American Hatter seem to give prices per dozen when one is listed.
