Thank you!!!
Driving me nuts!!
I checked old PMs, posts, etc, finally claimed senility.
I miss his world wandering posts. I dug the vicarious mystic sort of lifestyle he led.
Miss you @Nathaniel Finley. Hope you are well.

Found him by doing a Lounge search for “fedora Tibet.” How cool is it to be the guy who is found like that! It would be great to see him back here.

How lovely to return in a new user incarnation, run a search of my old user name and find some pleasant exchanges about me.

I made a whole new profile because I did not like having my name as my user name. It felt insecure.

I tried to change my user name in 2018 but back then the Lounge wouldn't let me.

So I stopped posting and then life happened and suddenly four years go by!

Great to be back in the Lounge. Now with two accounts I can really create some havoc! :D (a joke, I don't plan to resurrect that old account).

Boy that white Peter Bros. wide brim sure looks good Bowen!

I guess it's not much of a conversion, but I did recently resuscitate this old Akubra Fed IV. I am amazed that it came back to life. It's been hanging on the wall for a few years while I got infatuated with vintage felt.

Here's the older version in a photo from India back in 2017. The prayer beads were lost along the way, unfortunately - that was a great set of prayer beads!

The liner is out, it's two sizes too large since I cut my hair, and the felt was so floppy that I was sure it would never stiffen up.

I steamed the heck out of it and used a kitchen bowl to remove the crease shadows (or ghosts?) and bring it back to an open crown. Now it looks almost good enough for church!

The funny thing, it's back to life just in time to get replaced by a new heritage quality Fed IV hopefully arriving tomorrow.

I've had some grand adventures with this hat, though... it is nice to have it down off the wall.

I saw your new user name and knew immediately it was you by your pic. I could recall your first name but not last. Just figured you forgot your pass word.
It happens and in life s**t happens!
Been a bunch of that.
Welcome back @formerlyknownasNF.
Glad you’re here and the Peter’s Bro is still sweet.
Be well and safe.

Good to see you back! If I remember right, you had started into truck driving at one point. Are you still with it? I figure you probably have some tales to tell from that experience!

Boy, this group has an impressive memory!

Yes, indeed, I am a trucker. My profile photo is from the cab of a truck. It’s been fantastic and eventful - a darn stressful job but I LOVE traveling the US.

Unfortunately, I am grounded at the moment with some health problems.

Sorry to hear you've been ill. Hope you get to feeling better soon!
Thank you, Woodtroll. It’s COVID related. A real pain in the neck, to be sure.

Just taking things one day at a time right now and enjoying the activities that I am still able to enjoy. Waiting to get in to see a specialist hopefully next month.

Here’s one of my favorite felts: a fifties-era Canadian Royal Stetson. An older photo from before the illness.

Regards,
Nathan

A sacrilegious conversion for some, but I ended up loving the results of this homburg to fedora effort.

Not having an iron at home, I couldn’t get the brim flat so I turned it into a sort of pencil curl. I’m glad I didn’t have an iron because I would have missed this final product which is extremely satisfying with the original homburg stitch showing.

One of my wonkier bashes as well but I also quite like it. The felt is magic.

My question... is there any way to just change your profile name on the FL?

You might ask @Sagar85, pretty sure he did recently.

I submitted change request in my profile settings due privacy reasons and to limit my hobby visibility to this community. My previous handle was my actual name and was easily found on google. One of the bartenders or monitor have approved it. So, if you have a valid reason, I think it will be approved. Cheers!

Thank you Sagar.
Many here have asked how to change their name over the years.
Thanks for helping clarify this.

Hi, Can you be more specific about where you find the "profile settings" option to change your name? Or, specifically who I send a request to?

I've attempted a couple times to send a request to the so called "monitor" but, never got a response.

For simplification, I wanted to change my FL name to the same one I use on instagram.

Thanks!

go to account details under your profile, click on change username, add new username and reason for change. If the reason is reasonable, it will be approved :) To be clear, I did not send any request to anyone specific.
