That's only about the second or third Thirty of this era I've seen posted on the Lounge. Unfortunately it's about 3 sizes too big for me.
I noticed Brent bought this hat and put it back on eBay after jacking up the price a couple of hundred dollars.

I think I have a winner that just arrived here today. 1950's era Long Oval Dobb's Fifth Ave. It has a 2" brim and a 2" grosgrain band. It seems to have been hardly worn, if at all and was originally sold a Filene's, up in Boston. The felt is spectacular and takes and holds whatever I bash into it. It's definitely a keeper and I think I'm leaving it as a center dent.

I’m hoping that the Dobbs’ experts on this forum might be able to tell me something about this jewel of a fedora (quality, date, etc.). As you will note, It has a Cavanagh edge. It was apparently sold by a store in Long Island named David Foster, but I haven’t been able to find any info on it.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Seems to have the pieces of a 1950s Dobbs twenty dollar hat. The store reference intrigued me as my wife's family lived a short distance from this store. I also find very little reference to it other than one possible ad in a 1954 NY Times magazine for this Manhasset location. It was located on the northern side of Northern Blvd. in a region developed in the early 1950s as The Miracle Mile. The retail stores have changed many times over the years but it remains a bustling upscale suburban shopping district.

1950's Dobbs Forty with 2 1/2 to 2 5/8 inch Cavanagh type Guild Edge brim and 5 5/8 inch open crown. The small stamp on front of sweatband says "Seattle's Leading Hatters".

VERY NICE Mike! I have always wanted one of those, but in my size.....well, It may be a while yet.
I WILL say I have an a 40's Twenty AND a Twenty-Five (also 40's) both in the "Westward" style. The felt in those is magnificent. (Not sure If I ever posted either here though, I may need to get them out for a photo op). ;)
