"The Grizzly"

Yeah the reindeer one it’s a bit too over the top... price included although that might even be justifiable, have no idea how easy is to source reindeer fur. I’m also a bit conflicted about how ethical that could be. As long as it’s a byproduct of the meat industry in my mind it’s kind of fine but if it’s just for fur then it feels plain wrong. Does anybody eat reindeer meat? :D

The “standard” grizzly, to my surprise, is instead a much easier style to wear than I imagined. In fact, I think it is easier wearing than a cross-zip or even a Irvin style shearling. Give it a go people!

Actually, reindeer hides and furs are quite abundant in northern Sweden (and I guess other far northern places like parts of Russia and Canada?), both wild and tame. They are used for both meat and furs/hides. Quite tasty as well, similar to other wild game meat. Since they are roaming freely they often have plenty of scars though, so I can imagine there’s a lot of spillage.

Reindeeer is widely eaten in Finland. I fly to Beijing via Helsinki several times a year, and while I've never been out of the airport, the shops there do have reindeer hides sold as throws / rugs for a very reasonable price. They feel lovely, very solid, like they wouldn't shed. I want one for the front of the fireplace when we move house, though Herself isn't convinced. GretaCat would love it, though.

Sorry for being wildly off topic: but the reindeer track made me think of this manufacturer from the north of Sweden who use a combination of cow and reindeer for their bags and briefcases. The prices make all the brands discussed here seem like absolute bargains, or what do you say about a briefcase for 9000 €?: https://shop.boletannery.com/products/frame-mount-bag

At that price, I'd expect FQUH - front quarter unicorn hide.

Back on topic, was it anyone here that bought the palomino jacket on Aero’s sale page? I was sorely tempted but refrained (I have a grizzly in the works already), then when I checked back a couple of hours later it was gone.

This Aero grizzly arrived today. On my birthday, so that was great timing. Made in seal Vicenza and dark brown mutton.

I am super happy and excited about it! Feels good to be a part of the grizzly club!

(The alpaca lining is seriously thick, so I can’t imagine I’ll have an opportunity to wear it until late September on the earliest though. Can’t wait for autumn!)

Nice jacket, the pattern is identical to the Route 66 & the belted version it seems. I always wonder how the external hair last & withstand abrasion

Congrats! Aero’s grizzly really is a vintage pattern! Super v-shaped. I assume you didn’t go for any mods in terms of length/waist circumference?

No mods to the length or waist, just a standard size 40. Added to the sleeve length and a collar latch, but that’s the only mods.

I think the fit works. In fact I think it’s a damn good fit. If I want to nitpick the sleeves could have been maybe a bit tighter.

Damn, man, that fits you EXACTLY how I'd want any jacket to fit which is to say perfect!!! I know it might seem short to some people but IMO, this kinda length really makes the jacket a lot cooler.
It's really sweet and I'm not much of a fan of a Grizzly at all, to be honest. I'd wear this any day.

Thanks for all your comments and compliments on the fit. Glad to hear I’m not the only one who think it fits well.

I think it should have pretty solid abrasion resistance. We’ve been using a mutton fur to warm up our daughter stroller when it’s cold. She has jumped up and down it, sliding back and forth, etc. No loss of hair in 3 years of heavy use. And I mean heavy.
