Monty Woolley. Oh what a talent! The Man Who Came To Dinner,as you know.

Little do today's audience know, Mr Woolley was pretty much the same
individual in real life, unashamedly"insulting",quick wit, same overall
demeanor as the characters he portrayed.

Actually taught English at Yale, a real life stuffy College Professor.
A master of the dry delivery insult as opposed to the in your face
Catskills style.

From his looks, right down to every fiber of his being, here was a case
of character portrayal and the real person behind the character, being
exactly the same.

Any Monty Woolley,"Montague" Fans ?

OH,might I point out he starred in a radio program,The
Magnificent Montague, tis not my personal description that I came
up with for the thread.

My favorite Monty Wooley story happened at an elegant dinner party -- Mr. W settled back after the repast and let out a spectacular belch of satisfaction. The imperious lady seated next to him recoiled in horror -- to which he replied, "And what did you expect, Madam -- chimes?"
