This is the all-time winner in non-verbal comments about my clothing.
I was driving my car, wearing white shirt and tie, my suit coat off and on the seat beside me. I turned a corner and saw a young man in white shirt and tie crossing the street. There's a neat-looking kid, I thought. I stopped to let him pass. He then motioned for me to come ahead and pointed to his right. I glanced in that direction and saw a parking lot entrance. I looked back at him and he again, more insistently, gestured for me to enter the parking lot. It was the parking lot for a funeral home. Some people were gathered outside the building and it appeared that a viewing or a funeral was in progress.
I was driving along a city street and was assumed to be going to a funeral because I was wearing a dress shirt and tie! Amazingly, the people I saw standing in the parking lot wore t-shirts and jeans.
