Hey All,
This is my first post here on The Fedora Lounge. I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, but I couldn't think of where else to put it!

I thought you might like to see the new video for the song "Thinking of You" by Katy Perry. It is very 40's/WWII inspired, from the story line to the clothing.

I think it's great that artists are bringing these looks back, and making them accessible to the next generation. I think Katy looks gorgeous throughout the video, 40's styles really suit her.

The video can be found on the website perezhilton.com, under Perez T.V. (right sidebar)

The only problem is...she's a horrible singer. And the song sucks to boot. It'd would be so much better if you could shut her sound off and play a WWII Andrews Sisters' number instead.

I agree that she isn't that good...but because of the popularity of her other songs, people are going to notice this video and the vintage styles.

Her voice doesn't fit the vintage style, but her look certainly does.

As for modern artists with a vintage inspired sound, I like Adele and Sara Barialles (sp?)

Give me Gene Austin's 1927 Victor waxing (Vic. 20411) of the REAL "Thinking of You" any day!

"I've grown so lonesome
Thinking of you
Thinking of you

All by my ownsome
Thinking of you
Thinking of you

When you were mine, dear
The world was fine, dear
and the skies were blue

I've grown so lonesome
Thinking, thinking of you."

He has a very distinctive voice and his arrangements are pretty interesting

Hey, Lau Mo. Don't want you to think we're a bunch of hostile individuals here in the Lounge. ;) Saying the artist you're plugging sucks is not the most welcoming thing. I don't know anything about her, but I'll give it a listen
Anyway, it's nice to have you here.
