Tone-on-tone shirts and ties

To some it reminds them of Regis Philben and "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire". To others, it reminds them of "Casino" and Bobby DeNiro. I was wondering how common the tone-on-tone shirt/tie was in the thirties to forties.

Can't actually answer your questions, but I am sure it was probably so then.

I don't much care for the Regis look. But do like a black tie with a black shirt, black pants and a black jacket. But you will get the "Well, Johnny Cash" comments :)
