Too much free time? (T-shirts)

Has anyone paid enough attention to t-shirts to notice this detail? Some have a seam up each side under the armpits, while some are "tubular".

Any preference?

I can go ether way, but I think most or all of mine have the seam down the sides. I think they’re cheaper to manufacture with the seam. I guess that’s while all mine have it, because I won’t spend more than $20 for a t-shirt.
