I don’t recall seeing this CSC label before.

They used a variety of labels after the classic Mountains label. The classic label may go shortly into the 60s, but not much. Labels seem to change on or around the decade. This "newer" label above has a more "modern" take on the classic Mountain label. They have a 70s label that says 70s! I will have to find a pic of one. Probably get one on ebay. They made a ton of Sportswear and I have found next to nothing in researching the company.

40s Windward. Currently my favorite vintage jacket.

If you look closely you can see that they used two different thread colors. Maybe this jacket moved from one workstation to another on an essemby line?

Thanks for the excellent pictures!

This is a beauty indeed and a perfect fit! This jacket demonstrates the move to the "gathered sides" as I call them. Replacing the strap and buckle assemble. I'm thinking this was a reaction to wartime shortages and Military jacket construction. The strap and buckle did continue through the 50s. I have seen both types of construction on the Classic Windward.

Windward jackets with this label are high quality as this jacket indicates.

This zipper with the square end and Talon down the middle of the stop, with this Windward label are indications of mid war manufacture.

I forgot that about this jacket. I had to send it back due to issues with leather rot on the upper shoulders/arms. What a shame it was! This looks to be an early Star Sportswear? It had no label. The main zipper box and the V insignia pocket zippers indicate WWII manufacture.

I remember this one. I too worried about that shoulder rot. Too bad. Beautiful jacket

@Marc mndt that jacket is amazing. @ton312 did well by you.

@tmitchell59 that '30s Mission jacket is absolutely incredible. Would love to find one of those in my size.

Good luck finding a mission jacket. I’ve seen one for sale in a few years. I messaged the seller a question and it got snatched while I waited. Been looking for one ever since. I felt like a mope. I could tell it was special.

That's not encouraging, but I will keep my eyes open nonetheless. It's definitely a special jacket.

50’s? Kurland/Star sportswear. I know this brand primarily from there military contracts. The civilian jackets seem less common. This one is an oddity for sure. It’s a Halfbelt design without the actual Halfbelt. Gathered elastic sides. Very sleek design and unusual front yoke. I couldn’t have drawn this one up any better. From my research it’s missing the “glove tanned” label which would indicate its cowhide. I found a label from a jacket dinnerman posted and by comparison would say it’s the same era. Loads of grain. Fit is good. Paper tag with model number and size is still in the hand warmer. Tag size 42” but measures larger than my vintage 44”s. Liner is decent, bit grubby, minus the cuffs where it’s pretty shot. I’ll see if Dena has an idea for that area. Very stoked to throw this one into the expanding vintage pile!
