Not that I'd click on that link, but this thread reminds me of something my Grandmother used to say: "Never fight with a pig . You will get dirty, and the pig likes it."

I want to go on record stating the RetroSpectator is a hero in my eyes, and deserves way more acclaim for his "maneuver" and spin, and especially for his high road attitude.

Your grandmother was paraphrasing George Bernard Shaw.

It's a great observation, though. Many are the public figures these days whose stock in trade is hurling mud. No reason to name names -- we can all think of several, I'm sure. And many are the reasons not to mention their names, seeing how without all those mentions they'd be reduced to finding honest work.

As a semi gym rat, it doesn't surprise me that these comments would be posted.
In the gym, there are many who are concerned about their appearance, I mean they aren't up there to push themselves into a new level of exhaustion. Okay I fit that last part, but I'm at the gym so my wife will go, in the hopes her health will improve with weight loss and exercise. I've heard that works. ;)
So should it shock anyone that a body building forum would give harsh critique to the way many on this site dress?

While it's easy to call the muscle bound names, I'd rather take the high road and say "as the years pass, our style will remain unchanged, unlike your muscles." ;)

I read some of the posts...actually a few "stood up" for the Loungers, with comments like "so what, they aren't hurting anyone". Which is comforting. And I can think of a lot worse things a person can do other than dressing up in vintage clothes, etc. If it was a "retro car show" and you dressed, people would admire you. Or many other places...perhaps the "selfies" in the bedroom added ammo to their cruelty, who knows?

My experience has been that in a few gyms, there always is the crowd of judgmental characters who nit pick everyone else's body, the girls, the newbies...it's just thoughtless.

We're supposed to be a tolerant society, but we actually live in anything but that. Be it a fat person, a person of color, the wrong religion, the wrong town, the wrong job, driving the wrong car, even a handicapped person, these jokers have something impolite to say. I prefer the word "respect" which goes along with treating people as individuals.

Got this from a Facebook share - one of the '7 rules of life' -

I think it's like, what, the third time I've seen a thread about these losers stalking us.
I don't think we should put any value in what they say. I had a look at thier site- they have problems with spelling and grammar, and constantly fret about whether they are 'as big' as other 'men'.
I think they've got issues. When I'm not posting here, I use the Internet for shopping and porn. The very last thing I'd want to do is spend hours reading a forum I allegedly didn't like (meh).

I'm afraid that I'm a bit confused. If you are speaking about me, I never joined their site.

I did, however, reply to them in the What are You Wearing Today thread.

Here's the quotes from What Are you Wearing Today.
J
The first quote.

The second quote.

I am glad I made them laugh. It makes me happy to know I made someone, somewhere laugh! :D

Your attitude is awesome. Kudos to you sir!

You're absolutely right. There is nothing wrong with going to the gym to stay in shape, and to stay healthy. Every gym has a clique of losers who only work out because they are paranoid about thier physical insecurities, and automatically think that everyone else thinks the same way.

Well Fellow Loungers I came across this and it Pi@@ed me off in a big way.
I lifts weights to stay in shape and on this Bodybuilding Forum I ran across this Thread talking about a woman on the "Fedora Lounge" and if she was 9 or a 10 and low and behold there ware a bunch of pictures of fellow loungers with disparaging remarks about us .

Look and see for yourself .

All the Best ,Fashion Frank

Don't let it get to you FF. These kids are, well, kids. If they turned up on my doorstep, I'd give them a slap around the ears. If you turned up on my doorstep, I'd be reaching for the Tommy Gun in the umbrella stand!

This is what can happen when threads like these pop up and continue. Even some here become enticed to give into the temptation of resorting to hurling similar insults (of course from a much more respectable position). Finally on the verge of resulting in another shameful exhibition that only leads to a battle of who can better make fun of each other between two very different forums. Perhaps we should consider how our actions can reflect poorly on this forum rather than attempting to top the flagrant contempt of others.

You're absolutely right. My life is a constant struggle to bite my tongue, and I often fail.
