My latest from Wolfbrae. This is/was a Beaver Brand western that Robert tore down, reblocked, and put a new ribbon on. I was tempted to go with a new Wolfbrae liner and sweatband, but in the end decided to keep the originals. I like a lot of hats, but I love this one. A full 6” open crown and a 3 1/4” raw edge brim.

Yet again, nice work from Robert, Brent.

As you know, he's doing some work for me at the mo on a couple of hats, too. I'm so looking forward to them arriving.

Viva Wolfbrae!

It was a real pleasure working on this hat. In your picture there is more contrast between ribbon & felt. In actuality it was more tone on tone which I thought was a great choice by you. It is really classy looking and I am glad we got to preserve a little bit of American hat making.

You did a great job, Robert! I have some natural light photos in the Western Anyone? thread that shows the hat off better. I love the crown height on this hat…it’s my favorite.

I just received my Mallory that Robert refurbished for me, he cleaned it up and replaced the sweatband. He did a terrific job and it looks great. He also resized it for me and the fit is spot on! I was so excited I used pretty much all of my lunch break fussing with it and bashing it.

Not an expert, not particularly knowledgeable, not greatly experienced, however WOW that looks like some superior work to me!
I had better start saving up now. I think I shall not be satisfied until I have one of those. I can image them being a select collectable item in the near future. Way to go "belfastboy" / Wolf Rae.

I just realized I never posted this from last year.......a custom I had Robert make up for me as a trade for a 50's OR Royal Deluxe I had....I am quite pleased! Love the felt finish and had a nice crown height so I could make a fairly deep modified center dent. Creased fore and aft as was popular in the early 1900's and again in the Late 30's and early 40's as seen in many movies (and on campaign hats prior to 1900) and gives greater detail to these dark felts especially. NICE WIDE Soft sweat too!!! :)

It is a crease style I am fond of using on some of my Homburgs and Westerns......and well..... in this case a Fedora. Of course each is somewhat different.....Interestingly my 50's 7xCB OR came with a modified version.....so I did not feel a need to change it. :)

Sorry for the sidetrack....now changing the programing back to Roberts awesome hats....:)

Here is my first Wolfbrae.

I’d worked with Robert for many months on this and another hat I have coming. This was different because the hat was dyed.
I wanted a brown with red undertones, a dark mahogany. It was an interesting experience going through all the felt and dye options but the end result was better than I expected.
I’m quite stubborn and particular about how I want my hats and Robert is not only excellent at communicating and service but very patient and creative. I had concerns about the ribbon but sure enough, it came out great. (Camera lighting plays awful tricks)
The hat is is very rich. The felt is THICK and soft, but buttery, like a 5oz oil tanned leather, Which means it’s VERY stubborn to bash. But the fit was perfect, color was rich, obvious attention to detail. I am a very happy customer.

That looks a beauty. Love its classic shape. Robert has done it again.
