Sadly, I don't think this will be worn for the purpose for which it was originally intended, until I get married. There just aren't opportunities these days to go that dressed to anything, at least not in the circles of which I'm a member. It's not like I've been invited to a Royal Garden Party...

I'm not able to PM members yet. Perhaps you can PM me and give me your email address, and we can communicate that way. If not, I can just give more complete, step-by-step instructions, in a future post. Happy to help.

How I did it: First, I must explain that I am a college student with an incurable and hopelessly romantic hobby and interest in vintage menswear, so naturally, I had to get my hands on morning dress, a look that's always interested me, but without breaking the bank, and yet still looking smart...

After what has seemed like a long time, I've finally come up with morning dress of which I'm pleased, and for a relatively inexpensive amount. Enjoy. John

Going back to talk of morning dress and the stroller look, I wanted to comment on the white pique slip waistcoat that is visible in some of the vintage catalog illustrations. I think it is a very elegant and neat look, and I wondered if anyone knew if they are still made or if they can be found...

Baron, correct again. The collar is the largest one I've seen anywhere and is 2.5 inches tall. For some reason, I was just drawn to the tall-standing collar, so I bought that one, since I think it was the same price as the 1.5 and 2 inch wing collars as well.

Definitely, in fact it has been a long-time desire of mine to have a full set of morning dress. My first priority when I knew that I wanted to own my own formal wear was the white tie ensemble. Now that I have all that, I want to move on to morning dress. Being a poor student, I have once again...

I agree, and I think that I might be in for that because I am going to be a music performance major when I start college in the fall, and white tie is appropriate dress for recitals. I am a little apprehensive though, because the suit is 100% wool, and the shirt, while cotton, is heavily...

Thanks so much for the positive comments! Baron, you are correct. I didn't want to go right out and say it; I thought I'd see if someone could catch it. Although my being 18, this suit might be considered "vintage" from my point of view, it is certainly not vintage in the eyes of the Fedora...

I don't know how many people care for the "grey tie" servants' dress look, but as I had the parts for it, I figured I might as well put it together to see what it looks like on me. It's not a bad look actually, although I wouldn't want to be wearing it to an event, as I'd be serving drinks to...

Hey, thanks Ray. Yeah, I wore what you see in the white tie photo, plus an opera cape, white scarf, and a monocle to prom back in May. John

Here are probably my most favorite daytime looks; although I could probably put more together, I think these look the best. John

Good day ladies and gentleman! I thought I'd share some of my vintage wardrobe with the lot of you and find out what you think. Maybe some of these could be directed elsewhere on the site for further review; if you have suggestions, feel free to voice them. I might have to do several posts to...

    Stiff fronted collarless evening shirt

I am sure there are already threads based on this subject, but I would just like to know if there is any other place to acquire these shirts, rather than ebay, which despite being amazing has the fact that happening upon such a shirt would be rare, or because of the exchange rate, rather...
