So I bought these on eBay I sent the seller a low offer and he accepted. Looks like a few scuff marks up front but not too bad they are Peal & Co for Brooks Brothers
Do you think they need to go to a repair shop to be professionally treated for the scuffs or ca I do it at home? Any advice?
Took a blazer in today which I thought fit good but the sleeves are a little long. She fussed over it for fifteen minutes before we agreed to move the bottom button (double breasted) over about 1/4” to improve the fit. Everything I bring there I walk away feeling like it was made for me

More often than not I carry either a snub nosed 38 special revolver or my favorite Colt 1903 in my front right pocket. I had a friend who does a lot of black powder work make me a pocket holster for the 1903 based on a circa 1920's Chicago original. The pistol fits loosely in the holster as the...
I usually wear a 46R, 45R if I can find it. The 44R's I try just seem too tight at the shoulders and the jacket feels confining. The 45's and 46's fit at the shoulders but usually the waist needs to be taken in some and the sleeves shortened. The problem I have is length most guides say when the...
I am looking at a jacket on eBay that’s 46L I usually wear 46R. The measurements listed show it about a 1/2” longer in the back than a different 46R which I think I can live with. How much longer is a long typically in the body? Does a slightly longer jacket look odd?
Good condition in original box size says 7 1/4 but I think it runs a little larger as I am supposed to wear a 7 1/4 and it is a little big on me

At what point would you consider a suit not worth altering for size? I dropped about 20 pounds from maybe 220 to 200 and might go down another 5 to 195. I was a 46R with 40” waist pants now maybe a 38 waist and possibly a 44R depending on the cut (not all 46’s are the same)
Should I look at...
I realize this forum is geared heavily towards vintage clothing from a particular time period. I am thinking 1920-1950 with probably some time at the ends?
For myself except for some vintage cufflinks all my clothes are recent make and not reproductions. I like the elements of taste and style...
Picked up a two volume set from Library of America of all of Hammett's short stories and novels. Also a two volume set of Chandler but I am reading Hammett first. I am on the Continental Op series now the language and atmosphere of prohibition San Francisco is great
Lately I have a “thing” for traditional styled blazers. Single breasted, double breasted, navy, black, metal buttons, pearl buttons, heavy wool, light weight summer striped ones, linen, in short just about all types. So how about some pictures of yours? I think they are one of the most versatile...
Anyone familier with these? I very recently purchased a few different vintage pairs my understanding is they were made by Swank and widely copied by others starting in the early 1920's?
Wanted somethign a little different than the typical vintage cane so I made this one from a hippo tooth bound with silver wire to a hickory shaft. The shaft is actually a singlestick blade so instead of round it is a tapered oval which matches the tooth pretty well. Close to 1" by maybe 5/8" at...
