Paul Bond boots made in 1982. Sixteen inch stovepipe tops with 6 row stitching in yellow & white. 2A toe with undershot 2-1/2" cowboy heel. Still loved & worn regularly.

A boot dealer from Denmark I communicate with occasionally, on a boot collector forum, recently posted these Charlie Dunn boots that he had purchased from a seller in Guatemala. He was trying to determine what type leather they were made from. Anyone care to guess? (I've already learned the answer) I am often amazed at the travel of cowboy boots.

Already saw the post myself. Except for shark I'm not really interested in exotics now. I still have a pair of belly cut gator, some elephants & a pair of lizards but that's about it for exotics.

Hurricane, figured you had seen the post and I'm with you, exotics don't interest me much. The novelty wore out quickly for me. Smooth leathers, with the exception of FQ ostrich are my favorites. I've sold off all but a couple pair what most would consider "exotics."

Alright Bama, I'll give. What are they? I can't get the pic big enough on the smartphone here to get a good look. Unless they're genuine Guatemalan I can't imagine it'll be anything too shocking.

Dale, I guessed everything imaginable and perused every leather resource I have ever looked at. The closest I could come to it was Wildebeest, as it is heavily and irregularly grained. Wrong.

Carrlyn Miller, keeper of the flame at Texas Tradition Boots in Austin, Dunn's old shop, where her husband Lee learned and continues to make boots, verified they were boots made by Charlie and they were made from fresh water shark.

Cool! About all I can see is the variation in color on the shafts, can't make out any grain at all. Shark definitely makes for some good looking boots, I've just never run across a pair with the kind of toe I like. If I ever did meet up with a pair of black, x-toed ones I'd be sorely tempted.

Hello folks- this is my first post on this excellent site, which I discovered a few days ago. They are cool looking boots, for sure. I've not really heard of freshwater sharks. Are they relatively harmless, like freshwater crocodiles?
Recently in Adelaide, South Australia, where I live, there have been numerous sightings of a seven metre White Pointer. There'd be quite a few pairs of boots in that one!

Welcome, Aloha Ted. Glad to have you on board. You're right about there being quite a few pair in a shark of that size. I knew bull sharks would swim into brackish waters and sometimes travel far upriver. Here in the states they have been spotted as far up the Mississippi as Illinois. I got curious and did find there are actual river and lake species of sharks, I was really surprised to find this.

Eagle boots, maker unknown. These boots so resemble the boots Judi Buie designed starting in the mid-1970's after finding & buying all the NOS 1950's boots at Olsen-Stelzer. Right down to the green pulls & piping. The boots she designed were made for her by Tony Lama & Nocona. I used to think these boots were probably made by Nocona & sold thru Judi's store. But now for several reasons I think these boots are much older leaving me to wonder if they were made by Olsen-Stelzer in the 1950's. Narrow by today's sizes & obviously older than the mid-1970's.
