Today it was:

Wallet
Leather money bag
Keys
Ray-Ban Clubmasters
Cross fountain pen
Fisher Space Pen
Notebook
PDA
Cigarettes
Ronson Varaflame lighter
Handerchief
Listerine strips

But there was also a pile of stuff in the laptop bag:

Laptop (oddly enough!)
Spare batteries
Spare smokes
Large notebook
A4 pad
The book I'm currently reading
Gerber multitool
Columbia River KISS Knife
Memory stick
Earphones (for music while I work)
Small LED flashlight

Novella, I'm another one of the people who will occasionally produce a paperback from a jacket pocket. But only when I'm not carrying a bag, and not wearing any of the nicer suits. I try to work on the theory of determining how much the jacket can hold, then packing no more than 75% of that.

Money Clip with a few bills

Benchmade knife
Surefire E1e flashlight
Dell Axim
Cell phone and wireless ear piece

Geez, I have too much junk here.

The usual suspects.

Today (at work)

Shirt pocket- mechanical pencil
Collar- I.D. card.

Trouser pockets:

Left front- Wallet

Right front- Car/house keys, loose change (an absolute inevitability in Canada, due to the 1 dollar coin (the "Loony") and the 2 dollar coin (the "Toonie"... which I call a "dubloon" and wish everyone did... ).

Left rear- Cotton handkerchief
Right rear- Plastic comb.

Usually I also carry in my right front pocket- Money clip (from "North Hill Bowl" in Minot, North Dakota), 1972 Eisenhower 1-Dollar US coin, exceedingly well-worn by my late father-in-law from whom it was inherited.

Always, on belt, cellphone. However, if I'm not actually expecting a call or if I don't need to make a call myself, it's OFF. :D

'Sall.

The hard cases at the shop always seem so bulky.

I guess I can't have it both ways, if I'm going to carry a non-travel pipe I'm either going to have larger bulges or ashy pockets that smell really nice.

How do you all carry your pipes? I dislike having the pipe loose in a pocket.

I hate ashes in my jacket pocket, but I love carrying my pipe there. It's a dilemma.

Usually, I take a small soft case. It's actually meant for two pipes, so it's good for a pipe, a box of pipe matches, some cleaners, a tamper and a foldable stand. A typical tin of flake tobacco fits in too, a round standard-sized tin doesn't. It doesn't have a loop handle, at least. (Disclaimer: This is not about concepts of manliness or about sexual orientation, it's about ponciness as a style.)

Oh, two pipes - I confess I occasionally clean, refill and relight a pipe after it has hardly cooled off, though connaisseurs claim you should always let it rest at least for a day, and rather carry several pipes along.

What's in my pockets? Nothing.

What's in my wallet? Cell phone, credit cards, driver's license, pics of the kids and my car keys. It's a zippered man purse type thing.

The idea is that I can't drive away and leave my wallet anywhere, because I can't DRIVE AWAY!

Usually, it works.

What I Carry...

Here is what I carry:

---

Hat Sweatband: Two business cards, one for hat identification and a last resort card when out of them from my pocket.

Topcoat:

Left Pocket: Deco Cigarette Case, loaded with either Djarum Cloves or Lucky Strike. (Never know when a lady might ask for a smoke.) I gave it up, but you never know.

Right Pocket: Car Key.

Lining Pocket: Moleskine and sometimes extra ink for my Fountain Pen

Suit Coat:

Left Pocket: Handkerchief (Just in Case)

Right Pocket: Professional Business Cards

Slacks:

Left Pocket: Emergency Inhaler and Mobile Phone Headset

Right Pocket: My ever-so trust Waterman Phileas, Strike Anywhere Matches, Listerine Breath Slips (Mint)

Left Rear Pocket: Wallet

Right Rear Pocket: Mobile Phone

Shirt Pocket: Usually received business cards and dollars, fivers or tenners that have come from change.

---

And that's what I carry normally.

Left- pocket watch (it's a stopwatch from radioshack, but it does the job :p)
Right- Hacky sack (there's never a better time while you're in line to hack the sack)

Rear Left - Wallet
Rear Right- little composite notebook

I have carried things in my pant pockets since I was in Elementary School. I carried my homework, lots of paper in those pockets, as well as other things. I used to wear a wallet chain, most days my pants were falling down, even with a belt. So learn to carry the least amount of weight as possible! Even with suspenders or a belt, you'll notice.

The contents vary slightly depending on the occasion and what I am wearing: suit, business clothing, casual, etc. I don't like to have too many things riding around in my pockets, especially bulky items, so I try to keep it simple. Here is a general list, give or take a few items:

wallet with money clip containing cash, credit card, and driver's license
Single key
pen
business card holder
notepad
pocket watch

Never loose change...drives me crazy!

Sorry, that's the shorthand I use. I guess the technical name is an "eyeglass cord" -- something to hold your glasses around your neck, when not needing them for the moment. I don't actually use it much, but my motto is "be prepared." :)
