I have learned one thing in life when it comes to tape. If it doesn't say 3M on it, throw it in the trash. That's masking, packing, adhesive, acid-free, double-sided, whatever kinda tape you want. (Scotch tape is a 3M brand.)

Fortunately, I operate a set of classroom video studios, and gaffers tape is a must and part of my stock and trade. But I agree...I can't afford it on a personal purchase basis myself!
