I don't believe you have anything of much value there unfortunately .. looks like a more recent production as well
and what do you mean by "I realize the band is new" ?
everything looks original to me

without pics of the inside there is no way to really tell what you have there
Thanks for the info...I didn't think it was of value, but getting some validation of that is very helpful . I just assumed ( I know what assuming does !! lol ) the hat would have come with a ribbon / bow. This is why I've come to the experts.

Some interesting hat was left in store inventories from which I bought some hats on the end of the summer.
Many others remain, but little wearable sizes.
So I completed my work with the purchase of what I believe interesting
Three Barbisio (modern and vintage) and a "rare" Carlo Sala, last hatter operating at Monza (home of the wool hats) until a few decades ago.

The first is a recent Super Barbisio Extra Lusso in the beautiful blue hues, soft, great fitting. Size 59 cm 7 3/8 US

Dark brown with darker ribbon the second (Vintage) Barbisio Quality Extra. Size 59 cm 7 3/8 US

Simple and very classic made in "semi-ruvido" (semi-rough) felt.

The third Barbisio brother, made recently, is in green felt, soft and pliable with darker ribbon. Size 57 cm. 7 1/8 US

It has the same type of felt of the blue but it is a little bit more rough

The Super Sala is one of the last example in the tradition of Monza hatters, one of the largest centers of Italian hats production
4uider.jpg

Made by Carlo Sala is soft hare felt with finishes very basic and a fancy belt. Size 59 cm. 7 3/8 US

One of the rare I have from this hatter.

More to come in the next days

Hmmm...tried to upload some pics of the inside label , and liner , etc ..but I'm being told the file is too large !!! The label says U6126 ( left side ) ..98350 ( right side ) and..camel c/Brucina. The liner is the same color as the hat .
I get the same message from my phone. I looked for settings on the camera phone to limit the file size. No workee!

I get around it by one of two methods.
  • Load the picture to your computer, check the size (number of bytes. Forum max is a meg) open it with an editor (I use Paint), change the sie by a percentage that will get you to under a meg.
  • If you want to crop the pic and the file size is just a bit over a meg, that can work, too.
  • Using Gmail, I send the pic(s) to myself. Gmail does the resizing.

I originally planned to replace the ribbon upon buying it but now seeing it in person I quite like the patina... actually I love it and am definitely keeping it as is.

Needs a touch of love ... some steam and a brushing but what a beautiful piece

Fantastic hat! Very nice. I wouldn't do a thing to it.

Just another voice joining the chorus of those who agree with this decision. Great proportions!
