i figured the same thing.

but, with "Public Enemies" and Rorschach's hat in "Watchmen" in popular consciousness, let's hope for some fedora converts.

Not having drums on those Tommy's is killing me...even though I know the 20 round sticks are easier to deal with....:)

The clothes look really good, as far as what I've seen....I like this poster...

That poster looks cool.. It reminds me of the Dark Knight poster with the Joker holding his machine gun... as the world burns behind him. Even tho Dillinger was a bank robber and not really a gangster (this guy was way cookies and milk compared to the mob term) this movie looks like its going to be really good. I usually dont like bank robber movies but theres always an exception to the rule, cause i love Point Break.

Does anyone know if the release date is still July 1st? Seems odd that it would come out on a Wednesday, but maybe it's for the 4th of July weekend?

Yes, It is still coming out the on the 1st, and yes it is because of the 4th of July holiday. There may be an early premiere in St Paul, MN the weekend before. As well as a Gangster/Historian convention. I'll keep ya'll posted as I find out more info :)

I made my wife crackup out loud in the theater when the new trailer came on screen. I leaned over and said to her, "Mmmm, hat porn!" Seriously, Mann is such a sticker to details, PE will be our wet dream when it comes out on Blu-Ray and we can freeze-frame in high def to drool over the clothes.

Yeah, hat porn AND gun porn, doesn't get better than that. Mann IS a stickler when it comes to details so this one should at least please our people...:D

Yeah, there's one on Gunbroker now for 2K. Not bad. I'd buy one today if I wasn't afraid of our "recession" becoming another Depression. A timely movie indeed...

I've gotta get me one to go along with my M1A1, which I paid 800 bucks for from Sarco, 5 years ago...ahh, those days are sadly gone....;)

They actually filmed the downtown scene in the town I grew up in, Columbus, WI. If you watch the movie, the red brick building on the corner was my father's gun store, and prior to that was a pharmacy from 1965 until 2004. It was filled with vintage pharmaceuticals! I have lots and lots of cigar boxes, and a few other pharmacy bottles, paperwork, and my lovely 1958 Western Electric 554 wall phone! Our 1931 Ford Model A almost made it in the movie as well, but was a bit too loud to sound period.

or my friend performer extraordinaire

Frederick Hodges. This pic was taken when he was a bit younger- but wow it sure captures the look. He's a fantastic pianist and singer. We became first acquainted when he performed with the California Pops Orchestra in Feb. of this year. Ya shoulda seen and heard him play the tribute to Fred Astaire part of the program. He regularly performs with the Royal Society Jazz Orchestra (RJSO) at our local Art Deco Society events and is a premiere Ragtime artist. Link to his site:www.frederickhodges.com

The Trailer looks good buts sounds awful! Why do Movie Moguls think that no-one under 50 will go see the movie unless it has a "Thunderous" rock soundtrack, they should have got Max Raabe to do the soundtrack

Oshkosh museum spotlights 'Public Enemies' era
The Canada Press
Apr 12, 2009

OSHKOSH, Wis. — Crews from the forthcoming movie "Public Enemies" spent more than three weeks in Oshkosh a year ago doing setup and filming, drawing huge crowds hoping to glimpse the movie's star Johnny Depp.

Now, the Oshkosh Public Museum plans to mark the film's July 1 opening and educate visitors on Depression-era crime with an exhibit called "The Era of Public Enemies: A Wave of Crime in a Troubled Time."

Artifacts will include the death mask of John Dillinger, the bank robber Depp portrays in the movie. Also included are a vintage Thompson submachine gun and an art deco back bar from a local yacht club. There's also a hat worn by Depp during the movie's filming.

The museum is asking community members to contribute images and props.

The show runs June 27 through Oct. 18.

Midwest hopes for 'Public Enemies' tourism
By CARRIE ANTLFINGER | Associated Press Writer

MILWAUKEE - John Dillinger: America's most notorious criminal or Robin Hood of the Great Depression?

It doesn't matter to the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, which wants people to visit Wisconsin locales related to his gang's time here in the 1930s and the movie filmed in the state, "Public Enemies." It stars Johnny Depp as Dillinger.

The movie doesn't open until July 1 but Wisconsin, Indiana, Illinois and Arizona are readying for the onslaught of attention related to the film, which features Dillinger's escapades through those states.

I did two nights of background/extra work on this film . . . they spared no expense as far as wardrobe and makeup is concerned. My scenes were outdoors and at night, they had me dressed as a well-to-do Banker type.

I've done a fair amount of this type of thing over the last 9 years. Road to Perdition being my favorite experience, ALI being my least.

I recently watched a screener DVD for Public Enemies . . . I was not impressed with the end result.

It might have a decent soundtrack. They often throw garbage in the trailer to get people hyped up.
