The Diamond Authority

RBH

This new society is named in honor of my TVA fedora made by Mike Moore.
While neither Mike nor I created the diamond crease, I think the TVA brought it {the diamond crease} back to the attention of the members here, especially the newer members. Some of us had forgot what a cool crease the diamond was and could be!
So the membership is now open, please post your diamond [TVA] crease. Old or new fedora, it does not matter, what we need is your post. Thin ribbon, wide ribbon, stingy brim , wide brim, wool or fur, all are welcome!!!

Here is my TVA...

It's interesting to see the different styles in making a diamond. Here's my version, I guess it's a type of diamond as I don't know what else you'd call it. This and the center dent are the only two crown shapes I like and use. This is a Mallory Monarch.

A Borsalino.

A cut down cowboy. American Hat Company, fur. I started with a teardrop, then pinched it to a diamond with dents in front, but not in back. Shaping was done while wet.

Very cool thread....

Looks like I'm gonna have to give one of my teardrops a renovation perhaps. I never had a diamong bash before, maybe I'll give it a try on my OR and see how it turns out? [huh]

Douglas, WOW! I'm really taken with the Stratoliner that has four "facets" in the head of the diamond. Did you originate that design? :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap

Thanks RBH, I have more I just need to take some photos.

J.T., I got this hat from Aliados. It has the same bash it had when he handed it off to me. I like the multiple facet bash.

I'll post mine later after taking some pictures. I've always liked the diamond bash. As an aside, take a look at John Wayne's hat in some of his movies. It has a diamond bash. Rio Lobo is one example.

JT, that muiltifaceted bash has been aroung for some time. I've seen it on some vintage hats. And, I've seen in on cowboy hats. One fellow called it the oil baron's cutter crown.

Fedoralover, There is a faint, but noticeable, cross in that bash. I once had a black hat with which I accentuated the cross. It was a nice effect. I have since traded it off, and don't have a pictire.
