This beauty had it's brim hacked to about 1 3/4 inches. Now it's at 2 1/8 inches and looks really nice.

How do you add brim to a hat? Interesting.

Josh, I got a Johnnyphi Royalist. It's a brown lid with an interesting ribbon color that looks the same as the hat but is somehow different and complimentary. The only other difference I can see is my hat has a brown sweat. I find the felt to be like clay. Moldable and able to hold about any shape. Nice one.

Thank you, Chinaski. I would agree that the felt is like clay. It molded and took shape without any steam. The only reason I did steam the hat was to make the crease more permanent. The felt on my hat is some of the best that Ive felt. Its on par with the big boys, Stetson, Dobbs, Mallory, etc.

Absolutely love this lid. Nice pick-up, Josh!

+1 I missed that one, but it's a very sharp lid. The brim width seems to suit you fine. I know I prefer 2 1/2 inch brims, and going up 1/4 seems to make a lot of difference looking from under the hat, but really it looks good on you. Nice find. Enjoy!

Thank You jimmy & BobC!! Ive worn the hat out a couple of times already and its gotten so much attention. I actually had several guys at the bar ask to try it on and they told me that they wanted to buy one from me if I had others like it. These wide brims are really growing on me.

Well I just got my newer Borsalino from ebay yesterday. The auction said it was a dark grey, but to my surprise and excitement, the hat is actually a very nice shade of green. The thin ribbon and brim binding are a very nice shade of green as well. This hat is most definitely going to be my FedoraFest 3 hat. There are more pictures in the "Borsalino Brotherhood" Thread.

The G.A. Dunn & Co Genuine English Velour I won on ebay a week or so arrived. It's in perfect condition and fits and feels fantastic! Since I can't get comfortable in a homburg, it's just the hat for a dressy evening out, which is just how I used it last night.

Great looking hat, Josh!... and a great illustration of how hard it is to capture the color of a neutral tone felt hat.

1930's optimo panama - rossenized

The straw is in excellent shape with a good amount of patina from age and sweat. Someday I might explore having it cleaned, but right now I'm loving the original condition. It even fits.

weave count is about 700 per square inch.

A bit of exposed natural reed... perhaps an original sweat that was left as a sweat barrier when a replacement was done... or the original construction?

Dobbs Gay Prince

In very nice condition... the felt feels like a firm piece of suede, surprisingly moldable for a soft finish. I planned to keep the fluffy feather, but it was shedding all over the place... so featherless for now.

I have a new to me through Frussell 6X Stetson Montgomery in Silverbelly Western Alan Jackson autograph model. Seems about 1998. I really like this hat. I think it will get a lot of wear. Once again Thank you Frussell.

SteveAS, I really like your black beauty. I have never been in the market for a black hat, but if I were that one would be right up my alley.

Alan, I've never particularly been a fan of optimo panamas, but you sure wear that one well.

I'm continually surprised by the hats that show up here!
