To put a little eastern flavor into the mix might I submit Anna May Wong.

I'm partial to some Barbara Stanwyck, seen here skulking in the shadows.

I love her mean, slutty face. And her voice. In general I'm partial to those femme fatales, or to bad girls, or crazies. Also she gets some sweet outfits in Double Indemnity.

Among male stars, Errol Flynn and Tyrone Power.
Among female stars, mmmmm . . . Hedy Lamarr, definitely. But also Loretta Young, Grier Garson, adorable Jean Harlow, Gene Tierney.

REMEMBER, KIDS: The search function is your friend... (We've had threads on this subject since like 2004!)

OFF TOPIC:

The search engine is your friend if you insert pretty much EXACTLY WHAT WAS USED PREVIOUSLY. Otherwise, I find the search function rather hit and miss, mostly miss. I've put in an exact phrase in the past to find a thread I had seen previously, and not found the thread!

The one thing about the Lounge that sets my teeth grinding is the speed with which Lounge veterans, the majority of whom are NOT bartenders, will jump on someone for starting a thread that happens to have a subject similar to one from 3, 4 or, in this case , SEVEN years ago!

Not all of us have thousands of posts or joined many years ago (remember, on the web, a year or two is like centuries in real time, and those with join dates in 05 or earlier are like great grand parents to me!). We don't all have the corporate knowledge of what has, or hasn't, been discussed in the past. And, as I noted, using the search function (WHICH I AGREE SHOULD BE TRIED FIRST) isn't the panacea it could or should be.

I am now self-censoring - I will never again start a new thread for the fear that my search didn't find 'the thread from aught 4', after the thrashing I received from a certain "miss" after I noticed the spelling of "accouterments"!

Phew. I feel much better now.

Totally agree. I often see new threads with exactly the same topics that have been beaten like a dead horse around here previously (The Decline in Standards being an evergreen one), but I let them run their course.
And I agree about the search function. Even in the new format, it really isn't worth the effort, as far as I'm concerned.
OK, (back on topic) another pretty lady, whose career started in the 40's, tho she really became more well known in the 50's and 60's, Maximilain Schell's sister, Maria Schell.
