I've noticed this a lot more often on Etsy than eBay, but there seems to be some seriously unscrupulous hat sellers out there.

Take this for an example: https://www.etsy.com/listing/686491...jk33k5t_IN&eaid=13530018161&x_eaid=725e3622bd

I informed this seller that his first image is of a completely different hat and it would be wise to remove it so as not to confuse potential buyers. He then thanks me, but keeps the image anyways.

I'd like to think better, but to me, this signals someone who is blatantly showcasing a nicer/older hat in the first picture to attempt to trick unsuspecting buyers. Like I said above, I've seen this happen quite a few times on Etsy and it is upsetting.

Anyone else notice this?

Edit:

In case he does remove it, this is the image

I believe I've scored pretty big today on my local craigslist. This morning I saw a pair of Marathons from the 40's for $20/, then vintage hats and gloves including two Dobbs (one barely nibbled), and three interesting looking woman's hats and some gloves, $60 for them all. Both Dobbs are high crowned with small brims -- maybe 2", probably 1.75.
Both are in areas far from me, but I unashamedly played the sympathy card over my sister and everyone is bending over backwords to help me. A friend's son will currior the Marathons (I said there was another$20 in it) and the Dobbs package is being delivered from the mountains to a church 10 minutes from home.
I also can run and pick up 2 more when I have time .... Not as impressive but useful for inventory; a braided straw western that looks okay. It has a scalp patch/pad? With a bucking horse on yellow. The guy called them woman's hats, but I can see a black skinny ribbon peeking out from under the striped one. It's 6 3/4, but I also get a Colorado Rockies western thrown in, both for $20. It's a little bigger. I wish it was the other way around because my wife loves the game and she's 3/4.

The plot thickens. My courier hasn't yet picked up the Marathons, but the seller is sending me pictures of another hat, one has been told is very collectable, that might be very nice to have.
Thats giving me a rather pleasant feeling.

He says its a Dobbs boater, from a 30's timeline. He'seen valuations from $250 down to $100. I indicated earlier that if my pockets weren't deep enough, I had come into a group of hat enthusiasts, including investors. I may have a picture to "share around"
I just got out of the shower and told him I'd be 10 minutes dressing and grooming.
