What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

Found myself having a Berlin nostalgia flip today. Mayser from April 1973. Love it when the date is stamped in the inside of the sweat band. Always an extra bonus when you know something about its original owner.

Nice hat, Steve, but my eye gets drawn to that coat!

Great shape to that one, Ross. Nicely worn, too. Can we see the inside?

Thanks, Steve! Here’s the liner and size tag:

Actually, I draw horribly. You don't. My drawings were more like working sketches to remember the steps I identified by reverse engineering to create a standard bow. I think it's sometimes called a flying W.
I'm trying to fill a niche in hatting no one else seems interested in. I'm hoping to market existing modern mass produced hats in an improved form, refurbishing them to get rid of the garbage trimmings. I hope it's a way to bring cheap hat wearers into understanding of quality hat features, bringing them into the fold.
I can't compete with the hatters of reputation here, but maybe I can build my own customer base hat by hat. Maybe I'll never be more than the transition hatter, but it would be nice to get a bit of income out of it. And.maybe I'll get opportunity to fashion true customs as well.

I hope you fill that niche, Rehat. Sounds interesting. But, I couldn’t do it. Too much aggravating work! [emoji2957]. I suppose if one knows how to do it correctly it may not be so hard to do. Said, Mister obvious.
That’s what I meant when I said I would be looking forward to your drawings. I need to see the step by step process so I can see how it’s SUPPOSED to be done, on account that I’ve done it four times now but probably wrong in its execution. The bows end up looking okay, but I’m sure I’m doing it backwards or something.
Good luck with your admirable aspiration of turning nonhatwearing folks into... sensible people .

Excellent Merle art!
Good job on the Playboy. Looks great.
Unusual, the sweatband usually goes first.
Lucky you!!

Thanks for the compliment on the hat and my Merle. Yeah, it was sad when I got the hat from an eBay seller who didn’t include a pic of the back of the hat. It looked like it had been caught in some machinery or something? Don’t know what happened, but I didn’t get too upset. This was years ago when you could find vintage hats cheap.
Ten dollars for a Vintage sweat ain’t a bad deal. I sewed the new sweat in incorrectly.
I sewed in between the leather and the reed from the outside ( not flipped up and sew through the thin material as you’re supposed to). but I didn’t know better . Wish I knew the Lounge existed back then.
Nonetheless, I’m here now and I love this place and the guys who seem to live here! [emoji2]

Legend has it that on this day many years ago a pregnant young woman's water broke. According to legend she then drove her 52 Chevrolet, three on the tree near 30 miles from Gadsden, AL to Anniston where she picked up her best friend and they then headed on to the military hospital at Ft. McClellan where I was born. Thanks, Mom. Miss you.

Awesome looking Mayser Steven. I truly like their hats. You're always so well coordinated and can pull off all styles of hats. Envious

I'm 61 and my mind makes promises my body can't fill.
I have to do something other than butchering wood. I've been a remodeller way too long. I used to hump 2 pre-hung doors up stairs at a time. Now I have to rest humping one. Fences? You mean digging 15 holes a day?
The thrill is gone.
Hatting sounds easy to me compared to what I've been doing.
