Yes, at least you can in Dr. Pepper. It has a smoother taste...more akin to the old soda fountain drinks.

Well, then I’m all for less corny co-colas!
Why don’t we get the cane stuff? Those stalks seem to cover every acre around lake okeechobee in southern Florida! I’ve seen it from helicopter height. Even from that altitude the lake disappears into the horizon on one side as does the cane on the other!

When made in Mexico sugar cane Coke became available in the US several years back I bought some and was disappointed. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t great either. I’ve tried it a few times over the intervening years and my opinion has remained unchanged.

Here’s a conversion I fixed up for my 7 1/2 sized nephew.

This used to be a modern cattleman’s crease that I had to saturate in the shower to get it to take to its new shape.
Which caused the cheap, cardboard like
Sweatband to turn rock hard, once dry.
had to rip it out and sew in a fresh cheap, cardboard like sweatband from another crappy modern western Stetson I had on hand. Can’t believe Stetson uses these things! You wouldn’t be able to water your horse from these things.
False advertisement, these days, if you ask me.
Then sewed on my first attempted campaign bow and repaired a single moth bite. guess the moth larvae didn’t like the modern western hard hat either.
Had I used the correct 3/8 grosgrain ribbon
(cotton/rayon) the hat band would’ve turned out better. Oh well. I did this for free.
[emoji56] He should appreciate the hard work, if nothing else.

I love the campaign bow, and regretfully haven’t a single hat with one! I will try to remedy that in the future...hopefully by buying one with the bow already there!

I was thinking the same thing about Dr. Pepper. I sure miss the old Dublin Dr. Pepper made with pure cane, although Dr. Pepper still makes some that way. Dublin now produces their own line of sodas with Cane Sugar. they have a really good root beer.

Stetson gets away with using low quality components and monofilament “thread” because 95% of their clients don’t care and are happy with what they get. “Every country gets the government it deserves,” and “we” also get the quality we deserve. If a large number of Stetson’s customers demanded better we’d get it. We live in a disposable world of particle board furniture and corner cutting everywhere. Sad, isn’t it?

Your reworking of that hat is quite impressive. It looks as though we should be looking for you in The Conversion Corral! Your bow work is very nice! If you ever want better quality leather sweatbands send me a PM.

The trick is that it has to be in a glass bottle like the one Jonesy has in the picture, Brent. Drink it cold and straight from the bottle.

I’ve only seen it here in small glass bottles. The bottles look like they’ve been reused a few times and reminds me of when I was a kid and we returned bottles for the deposit.

Maybe I’ll try it again this summer on a hot day.

That's exactly what I meant about that Marathon I posted yesterday. Way better construction and quality than many modern day offerings.

I think you did a great job with the campaign bow. I’ve been thinking of attempting one. Did you find any resources that you used or did you just go for it?

Taking the Courtney out for some errands. This is the hat made for Levinson Hatters in Indiana, and Bowen went to school with some of them. Pretty sure made by Lee.

The Controlled Brim is pretty cool, and actually works. I have it just slightly down in the front, but still pretty flat and slightly curled up. Unique brim shape for me. Very nice dress weight felt as well.

Equa Andino Panama dressed up in Miami Dolphins colors for the last game of the season against New England. Fun to see the Dolphins get the win at Foxboro and cost the Patriots a first round bye! And they will ask... was that meaningless win worth dropping a few spots in the draft?? OF COURSE IT WAS!
