Now why wasn't that hat my size? Looking that happy is at least a sign you're pleased with it, Héctor.

Rainy, overcast, dreary, yucky day. Picked my Gus Miller for a quick errand. Now I am back inside getting some hat work done.

That might be one of your best hats, Jim. I like everything about it.

Here it is my best hat... so far.
Bought from a private seller who is bringing some good (mostly second hand) staff from Germany.
Not familiar at all with the brand, I would highly appreciate your comments.
Thank you!
Welcome to the lounge, Dan. A. Breiter is a well regarded hat seller from Germany and there are many many hats that were sold through that shop around. They had some of their hats especially made by the big hat-companies in Germany. Usually they are well made hats.

Thank you all for your likes and compliments yesterday, we very much appreciate it !

Brent, I guess it's because they own the style since the first one appeared as a woman's hat. Fact is, they always look better with just about everything in our eyes :)

Sunny today and pretty much the perfect winter day imo: sun and cold enough to wear my scarfs, coats and hats ;) Wearing one that I picked up just yesterday

Great catch, Panos! I have a black homburg Wilson Hat; excellent quality hats. Nice pics too.

Finally got my new ribbon on the Cavanagh Homburg. Had a heck of a time getting the right ribbon. First I got 1” instead of 2”, then I got Petersham instead of finished edge. It is good vintage stock though and I think it turned out pretty good. Copied the bow style from the original one that was falling apart.

Looks like you nailed it, Tim. Well, you've sewed it, but you still nailed it.

@AbbaDatDeHat was right.

I’ll save the naphtha bath for a more deeply soiled, or light colored hat.

All it took was low compressed air blasts, a brushing, a damp cloth and steam shaping to bring this hat back to its glory days.
I’ll say this: Though I have had no problems using water to clean or promote the stretch of vintage sweats in the past, lately, I have ruined two sweats with it. I’ll never use water again.
Leather conditioner and a rag only.
With this hat and sweat the cold water didn’t completely ruin it but shrunk and cracked portions of it. [emoji35][emoji35][emoji35]
Maybe you guys can learn from my recent astonishing experience.

Very pleasing if a hat comes back to life with just some brushing and some steam. I think we've all had the experience of a sweatband falling apart under our hands. Sometimes they just can't be saved.

Nice work. Nice hat too, and it suits you just right. I actually have a similar Cavanagh homburg but no idea what to do with it lol. It’s gigantic. At least a size 8. Let’s see that bow bro!

Super job! Super hat! Bow looks excellent! Need a pic of the entire bow, Tim.

Thanks guys, I’ll have to get better pics when I get back in but here’s a few I took while I was making it since it was my first one. The torn one ia the original that I was trying to emulate.

Thank all for your kind words and... likes.
@steur, thanks for the information about Breiter. Never thought it is a seller and not a manufacturer.

I am glad I've discovered this nice community of hat lovers.
