So on the way out the door yesterday I was pleasantly surprised with a package at my door from Super fellow Lounger and all around great guy Brent @deadlyhandsome. When he told me he was going to send this hat my way.. I about fell on the floor. I’m VERY VERY grateful... for his generosity (and his large head that wouldn’t allow this one to fit him LOL)

As he and I discussed this is a special group here.. with some very generous individuals.. generous with their knowledge.. compliments... and paying hats forward from time to time.

Here is the Mac Lachlan made Rogers-Peet Company light silver grey

This is one beautiful hat with a really great feel to the felt. Takes any crease with ease! 2 3/8 Cavanagh edge brim that really hits a sweet spot for me! 2inch grosgrain ribbon. And about 5 1/2 open crown.

This hat is super comfy with a lot of personality.

Interesting observations indeed about the Amon SO, Greg.
As far as the sweatband fabric reed, it is reminiscent of a “corded reed” on a Disney i have. The cord encircles the sweatband and is sewn to the felt. With the Disney the cord continues down the sweatband seam and is used for the sweat bow. I believe these type sweatband attachment variances make for an extremely comfortable feel much more so than any solid reeding. This is just an observation and i’d be interested if you found this to be so as well.
Again, great new gets. Hope you add to the Shady Oak thread too.
B

Thanks, B. I would like to see some detail pics of that Disney sweat when you get a chance. I checked the SO and the Marathon and neither is constructed quite like that.

Yes, they both sit very lightly on the head. Very comfortable.

Greg: i think it’s in the Disney thread but i’ll wear it today and get some shots over at Lo Lo’s place.
Any reason to wear it is a treat. Thanks.

Chocolate Brown Cavanagh with fuzzy velour-like felt

1 7/8 brim with overwelt edge

5 inch crown when open

Brown corded hat band.. which seems to be the band of choice on these fuzzy ones

a good amount of moth divots on it.. as is often the case with this type of fizzy finish. So it has spent the last couple days in the deep freezer. I don’t think we get the clothes eating type much down here... but I didn’t even want to run my brush over it till it was frozen to be sure.

Thanks, found it, B. Unique reeds on those sweats.
Hey Greg: i’m not sure what i posted in the Disney thread so here’s the cord reed highlighted. I know not all Disney’s i’ve seen have this. @Rockwater has one in another model. Other than that i’m not sure i’ve seen another similar Disney.
I seem to recall another brand similar but lost in memory.
It seems a material/cord reed might be fragile but this one certainly stood the test of time as has your stellar Amon Carter Shady Oak.
Pretty cool i think.

My Leon Drexler Londoner came yesterday and I'm pretty well pleased with it. I haven't worn it outside of my apartment yet, but it's meant as my winter and fall 'town hat' (I.e. what I wear after work and on weekends), so it should get plenty of use.

It's in dark indigo felt with a dusk ribbon. The brim is is about a quarter of an inch wider than the standard for the style and has an unbound curled edge.

I have a Drexler Londoner as well. It is in Natural coloured felt and I too got the brim about 1/4" wider. I also have his Cotswold model. Steven makes a great hat. Probably would have more but his 13 month wait list is a killer. I like your colour choices.

Excellent Joe. I wish I had any model of a Mac!

And, as bad as I hate to say it, Brent @deadlyhandsome is a pretty cool guy :) ... and an exceptional enabler!
