Glorious outfit sir. That hat catches my eye. I think it is the unusual felt color. How would you describe the color? I hope the global pandemic finds you doing well. Be safe.

This one has a reeded sweatband and an onion skin sweat blocker, so I guess it’s an early 50s.
The color is somewhere between green and brown, which makes this my first green-ish hat.
I guess airybody needs one. View attachment 224609 View attachment 224608

Randy; I said it yesterday in a post to Blare, but I should have included you also - Your recent hat game is high! Great hats of late and your craftsman skills are dynamite.

I tip my hat brim and take a sip of coffee this morning in tribute to the great hat pics of late. Be safe, be strong and see you on the streets soon, Eric -

30 Days to 30 Hats - Day 2
Stetson Standard Quality - Silverbelly

View attachment 224549

So yesterday I started with one of my very first hats... today I will go with my newest arrival. This one showed up on my porch just today.

Stetson Standard Quality Silverbelly

7 1/4 (as tagged). - Fits like 7 to 7 1/8
Super thin light and moldable Felt
1/4 thin ribbon
2 1/4 brim with 1/8 matching bound edge
5 1/2 Open Crown (4 3/8) as bashed
1 7/8 tan sweatband. Thin. Super soft and supple.

@M Hatman suggested this may be a ‘Kingston’ model... a predecessor of the Open Road. I have no knowledge other than that but this is one impressive hat!!

I thought I was getting this to check it out and pass it on to a friend whose size it would be more appropriate. Much to my surprise after unpacking and setting atop my head it fit perfectly. I am usually 6 7/8 to 7.. my 7 1/8 hats have felt strips in the sweat so I can still wear them. I even had two 6 3/4 arrive that fit perfectly... no way this 7 1/4 was gonna fit... yet here we are. So looks like this one is going to be around longer than I planned.

Everyone Be Well.. and Be Safe.

Wow, outstanding hat Joe ! Great condition for the age. Anything under the sweat to help determine age ?

Great looking Templeform Randall. I love mine that I just got as well, they definitely do fit nice and are very comfortable.

Man, that sweat looks to be in great shape ! That tag looks like it went from mid 30’s to about 1957 according to my research. I also notice it has a Lot # on the sweat. @alanfgag mentioned those were pretty rare when I posted the one on my ‘41 Strat.

Very cool !!!
Amazing how soft the sweat is. I was thinking @alanfgag might have some insite on this one. @M Hatman suggested it may be a Kingston model... predecessor of the Open Road essentially. These are his photos of a Kingston ad in a 30s Stetson Catalog. The brim is a bit shorter on mine though at about 2 1/4

Great hats folks. It is a pleasure to tune in the forum and view all the hat escapades.

Joe; Great idea! You could increase the number of hats showcased by wearing a different hat for every chore. Could be a 100+ hat month! Seriously, nice hat sir.

Michael; You are looking sharp and cool as a summer cucumber. The hat, sport coat all the way to the gunboats on your feet are grand. Thanks for continuing to stay on top of your your sartorial game.

This morning I took the needed risk to head out to the grocery store. I ordered on-line and drove my car up at the appointed time and waited and had to call inside to remind them I was waiting for the boot of my auto to be loaded with the pre-paid groceries. I suspect they are just getting geared up for the increase of demand for this service. On the other hand, I have time! I wore a Gannon (bone felt) for my efforts.

Thanks Eric. You were looking sharp in the Gannon and the houndstooth cap. And later in the Playboy.

Didn't get a chance to publish this last night, too busy stuffing my face... Our first foray into take home from a fine restaurant in Albany. I went and picked up Novak's Hungarian for the in-laws and us. We had a family dinner on Zoom. Times are strange. Quick trip in my late 1950s Dobbs Twenty. Also the first outing, before restoration, of my new Johnson & Murphy Oxfords, very fine high end shoes, strays off of Ebay for $13.
