What is the function of this belt loop on the inside of the jacket?

Fairly certain it is supposed to be looped around your pants, so while riding it would keep the jacket from coming up and in place

It attaches to your belt that goes through your pants belt loops, keeping the jacket from riding up on the bike and exposing *** crack to the wind.

I've wondered that myself. I think it may enable you to loop your pants belt through the loop, connecting your jacket with your overpants, creating a pseudo one-piece riding suit. But I have no idea if that's right or not.

This is an excellent idea for thread, Marc! There has been quite a few threads lately that required just a single answer, cases where often a simple yes or no would've sufficed and that's pretty much it for it.
@Fonzie - Practicality, I guess. Many people don't wear the belt off the motorcycle and this way, you still get to adjust the jacket to your liking. It isn't a bad feature to have. What I don't understand are those jackets that only have belt looks on the back. . .

The laces are there to make the jacket fit you, the loops are to attach your duty belt.
The ***, handcuffs, etc are carried on the jacket itself.
AHA! Hence the police jacket name, now I get it. Cheers.

^^ Darkens it ever so slightly. Pretty hard to tell much differance in the boots and jackets I have used it on.

Generally I have found side laces to be more effective overall than full-round belts.
