Thanks! Very high praise from someone who sure seems to know what 'made for you' should look like - seriously your FL Frankenstein is just awesome.

Going for a trim look with the Thedi. Just moved from Cali to the midwest and want a CR I can put on over a t shirt during what passes as Spring up here. No work dress code even sans pandemic so mostly in t shirts anyway.

Credit to Carrie for weathering a number of emails about questioning 0.5" changes here and there. Struggling to just leave a good fit alone.

You bet! It really is a great looking pattern and seems perfect to your shape.
Thank you, it took a while to get to that fit but now I know my key numbers I've been getting close to the ideal fit for me.

That's a great choice as a cafe racer should be snug to show off the pattern. What leather will you be requesting for this project? I also put in a order from Thedi, I opted for black canetto cowhide.

Hmmm maybe measure the Aero and use that to compare the Thedi fit jacket. That 0.5" difference is a lot depending on which leather to use so good on you for being specific. My jacket order from them didn't go as smoothly, I was recommended a size bigger than what I should have been so I had to get my jacket altered

For any recent Aero customers: I was informed today my jacket will go into production in a week. I know there are many variables at play for production time, but would anyone have a rough estimate of when I could expect it? I'm assuming maybe April

I think it's about 2 weeks in production. I.e. in the middle/end of March it should be time.

Thanks! I'll stick to my guns on my small "adjustments".

Haven't made a final call on leather yet. Thedi made a CR in a red brown cowhide for Harry Damson Speed Shop in Berlin that I really like. (screenshot attached)

So waiting to hear back on what that leather is called and if it's in stock. So still trying to identify it.

There's a new jacket on their instagram page done in an olmo cowhide that I'm partial to. So circling these shades of cowhide I think. I know lighter color cafe racers aren't everone's bag...but I think it will work for the daily driver I'm planning.

What pattern did you decide to go with?

Yes, it also wouldn't hurt to reach out to Thedi directly for his input.

I saw it and I love that shade of brown, definitely not your more common dark brown/black cafe racer. Can't go wrong with that choice of hide.

I saw the olmo cowhide and that looks russet to me, it looks really good with the orange coming through. It will really look good especially when worn and it gets darker with wear.

I went with this grizzly pattern. I did away with the hair on hide and had the collar changed to a standard collar with detachable blonde shearling.

Does anyone know what options there are for replacing a missing belt on an older CHP? I know Vanson sells a hard leather belt, but I'm not sure of any other options. I'm also not sure how the mismatched leather might look, assuming there are some differences in the wear and patina.

Brooooooo, you deleted the hair? Please tell me you subbed in mutton or something similar? You need a proper Grizzly for your growing collection!

I did! It will be made from washed/waxed black cowhide as I don't have enough chest hair for that look yet. Plus it's too hot here to get a proper grizzly or shearling jacket. So my compromise was to have a detachable shearling collar.

I'm revisiting the idea of a removable liner, but I think I want to do something a little less bulky that full blown shearling. I was looking into wool or some of the alpaca/mohair pile fabrics, but I'm not sure what's suitable to use as a liner. A lot of the wools I'm seeing are meant for suits or outerwear and for some reason almost all the pile fabrics are for teddy bears. Anyone have recommendations?

Alpaca is great for liner. Soft, warm and somewhat fluffy.

^Yeah I like the Alpaca in my N1, but I've heard Aero's alpaca is on the thinner side. I wonder what the weight is? Either way, I'm trying to find where to source some from.

Maybe two layers? Alpaca and something over it so maybe it's not so scratchy and easier to put on/take off

It is brand new and needs to be cracked, maybe over time the shoulders will become softer and the sleeve will take shape?
