My new Epsom arrived today. First fur felt bought new from a store.

Somewhat lighter and softer than I expected, but that's not a complaint.

The second hat of the day is a classic that cannot be more classic.
barbisio-rimini-2-jpg.339482

A Barbisio production of the seventies or perhaps the sixties in a combination of colors seen several times in Italy, as well as the shape and proportions.
barbisio-rimini-3-jpg.339483

Barbisio Classic, Qualità Extra Extra size 59 centimeters, but more a 58 than the size indicated, arrived so far in excellent condition.
barbisio-rimini-interno-totale-jpg.339485

The medium weight felt is very malleable and has a dark gray with a black ribbon.
barbisio-rimini-4-jpg.339486

The felt color is called "Rimini" as the town on the Adriatic sea, the ribbon is black with an ancient bow design

barbisio-rimini-5-jpg.339488

These are the measurements: the raw brims are at 5.5 cm, the crown at its lowest point is at 10.5 cm. and the black ribbon is 4.5cm. high
barbisio-rm-1-jpg.339489

As mentioned in other posts, the classic Barbisio, that was made in Sagliano Micca in the historic production workshop, are increasingly scarce, so when I find someone I buy it, this for some lover of the Italian classics with a head diameter suitable for its measures :)

Every now and then my passion for homburg or diplomatique returns, in this case, for a black one
flechet-foulard-1-jpg.339432
I don't have many variations of this type of hat in black in my collection: too seen.
I kept the ones who cross the threshold of beauty for my taste.
flechet-foulard-3-jpg.339433

This Flechet tempted me and so here it is
flechet-foulard-4-jpg.339437

Flechet Foulard size 60 cm, even if I can't find the size indication, in fact it is a 59 perhaps because it has shrunk over time
flechet-foulard-interno-totale-jpg.339434

Unlined and built with a very light felt and a non-sewn sweatband looks like a homgurg for warm seasons.

The construction details are good and the written indications qualify it as a quality product.

Its paper label, handwritten and stamped, seems to carry it to the years between the two world wars as a date of construction.
flechet-foulard-2-jpg.339439

These are the measures of the French classic: brim curved particularly on the sides 6 cm. crown low point 11 cm. and the ribbon is 5.5cm.
flechet-foulard-6-jpg.339440

A classic French black homburg with the charm of heyday of hats

Great find, Daniele. I think Barbisio did some of it's finest work with the "classic" line of hats.

Bought this on on commission so to speak. I knew it wasn't my size. Sometimes you get lucky with hats like that, but not this time, so it will go to a trusted collection.
Stetson Standard Quality bowler. Brim at 5,3cm and crown at about 13cm (eyeballing it a bit here). Lovely hand to the felt and finishing is top notch. Only thing is some foxing on the liner. From what I gather early to mid-thirties. Imported by Sools of Paris.

A slightly different New Hat Post than usual for me.
My new to me Druids Oak Tricorn .
I was recently commissioned Colonel, Commanding of the Kingston Reds Rhode Island Historic Militia.
Founded in 1775, the Kingston Reds, 3rd Kings County Regt. are 1 of 14 remaining Historic Chartered Military Commands whose lineages stretch back to the mid 18th century that serve in mostly ceremonial rolls under the Adjutant General of the RI National Guard.
I descend directly from multiple founding members including the original Commander Capt. Nathan Taylor, elected by the Company in October 1775.
Pics of me in uniform to come eventually as I am usually the one taking them.

One weekend a month we can be found doing this at the Maj. Gen. Nathanael Greene Homestead. FB_IMG_1623027548140.jpg

And when we want to torture the neighbors, this.

Excellent Dave. I know you will wear it with pride. Ancestry is a powerful force and it is obvious that you take pride in history. Congratulations.

Congrats Colonel! Stylin' hat with the bound brim and unusual bow work -- and I really like how you creased it. It goes well with your "suit" ... and cannon.

(Seriously Dave -- congrats on the honor and kudos to you for keeping this history alive).
