How many new jackets do you have coming (and how many potential ones)?

Just arrived. Wanted to flip 'em or something but these turned out to be waaay too cool. Germany or Austria for sure and my estimate would be 1950's, judging by, well, everything. Leather is very stiff and very thick and I know it's not really possible to tell but I'm fairly certain we're talking horsehide here.
Fully lined in cotton drill. They fit me perfectly, too, which is always a good bonus when buying something very old like this.
In any case, I know there isn't much interest in leather pants but I don't suppose a few photos of such a nice, proper vintage piece of outerwear will hurt the thread (too much).

Yes it is. Early European leather motorcycle trousers were near exclusively jodhpurs (or breeches, term they're better known as today) but after the second war, the shape started to shift toward straight, contemporary cut. These were made somewhere during the transformation.

They're quite tapered but still don't really look like jodhpurs when worn, which is something I'm very happy with as I personally can't stand leather breeches.

I could have these easily narrowed at thighs and get a perfectly shaped leather trousers, which is something I'm (over)thinking right now. I'll see.

Or one is an 8lb and other is high 5lbs. I think if one of them is steer it will be close to 8 lbs or over. All my CXL FQHH regular length jackets average out in the 6lb range. But the steers are easily above 7, some are 8 plus.

Or one is an 8lb and other is high 5lbs. I think if one of them is steer it will be close to 8 lbs or over. All my CXL FQHH regular length jackets average out in the 6lb range. But the steers are easily above 7, some are 8 plus.

I requested both heaviest cxlsh, but looks like it is a nice mid-weight cxl which is ok by me. I asked them to ship seperately to avoid import tax and they will do it now.

Looking forward to seeing them both. I think the trend has been more toward “lighter”weight CXL for the last few years. It’s certainly not a bad thing and it’s still well placed in the heavyweight category. TBH I’d probably never select CXL again., despite the fact that it is arguably the most beautiful leather on the planet imo.

I’m super interested in badlassi as it seems to be a nice middle ground. A good thick batch of vic is a wonderful hide too, but just like every other hide, it’s luck if the draw. Of course absolute consistency is impossible, given the material is not man made. What surprises me the most is that vic and badlassi are as close to CXL in thickness and weight. I didn’t think that was actually possible. But that pull-up. That’s where CXL absolutely wins the day. To this day I have yet to see any other hide reflect such drop dead gorgeous pull up. Even bainbridge, which almost gets it. Doesn’t.

When Aero check the final spec of KOTR with me, in the sheet it did not mention "customer request heaviest leather", it's just said heavy Cxsh, I asked them to add" request heaviest please" as I did put it on my order note.
I suspect that's what happend to my highwayman and HB deluxe, they did not put my request on final production note.
It still ok, because I don't want my preference of heavyweight hide become obstacle from ordering Aero.

Looking into shearling jackets again. Not restricting myself to historical designs, the only one that appeals to me is the B6 anyways. However, I really would like something with black or very dark brown fur.

Years ago I specced out the idea of a Highwayman with a shearling lining, in order to have a black one. Then Aero launched the Thunder Bay, which appeals. I like the idea of a leather shell with a shearling lining for really foul weather. Shearling is great in cold, though don't wear an Irvin or a B3 in the rain without an umbrella. The jacket survives just fine, but the feel of wet shearling round your neck isn't the most pleasant! I still really like the Thunderbay, though for a warm, black short jacket I now have my eye on the quilted Wilderness. Something like the Hudson with a shearling lining would make for a really nice civilian jacket, particularly for that little bit of extra length against the cold. A shearling-lined Barnstormer always appealed to me, but I suspect (given I rather fancy one of those for wearing over the top of a suit) it would be overkill for most of the temperatures I am likely to be out in. If I were to spend much more time in Beijing in the Winter, that would be different. I was very glad of my B3 and the Irvin on separate trips there about ten years ago. (Now it's the other extreme; when - plague times aside - I'm able to get out there, it's always in April / May / June when it's too unbearably hot to even thing about a jacket of any sort!)

In terms of other makers, I did once handle a Schott B3 in black, which was nice. I'm no reenactor, but when it comes to the military designs I can't usually get past obvious alterations like handwarmers. Somehow, however, rendering the B3 in black takes it far enough away from the original design that these things don't jar to my eye. The new ones are a bit beyond what I'd be inclined to pay, however if one fell into my path on a good, used deal, I would definitely consider it.

Yep...I had two 9D's at the time. I just couldn't get myself to like wearing that leather. Tons of pull-up, maybe too much for my taste.

Good to know, I'd like to get a 9d, or maybe even a Dakota Barn coat, and have been considering upgrading to the fancier leather. Would love to see an example with a year or twos wear on it.

It was very shiny, loaded with wax, smells beautiful.

No it had nothing to do with the color, it all looks like couch leather to me. Far as I know there aren't that many options for brown. There's maple (which I had) and cedar. The redwood I wouldn't call brown as it's a legit red. I think the dark hicory vancouver leather is a bit nicer without the super high gloss.
